Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen the night of 7/21 - morning of 7/22 from the courtyard in front of my apartment where it was locked to a light pole with a combination cable lock. The cable was cut and left behind

I woke up when my room mate came in to tell me that my bike was no longer locked up in front but that part of the u-lock was on the ground with blood on it. I immediately called to file a police report. By the time I got down to pick up the broken piece of u-lock it was also gone. I am devastated. I loved that bike so much.

Looks like someone walked up to it, clipped the chain and took off in broad daylight on a busy traffic and pedestrian street. Thanks everyone!

My bike was u-locked through front wheel and frame to one of those new "pay at box" poles. There was also a combo lock from the seatpost to the back wheel. being a new pole the must have easily undone the bolt at the base and slid the pole off my lock. the pole was sitting loose in the base when i got there and the washer that was jammed between the pole and base was sitting on the sidewalk.

Son left Bicycle under freinds back porch and went to the show. When son returned his bocycle was missing.

biked to work at the train station locked my bike, double checked lock went to work, came to get bike at the end of the day to find entire bike, baby carrier and lock gone.

I left my bike locked up to go to work and someone stole it from right in front of the gym.

Found cut cable lock hung from chainlink fence when i returned to spot where bike was locked, across from main entrance to Pitchfork Festival in Union Park.

An African-American male in shorts, a white tshirt, glasses, and a backpack approached from the west side of the office building, came around front, and then lingered around the bike racks on the east side of the building. Pretending to have a key, he fumbled around & then proceed to (I assume) cut the lock from the bike. He then rode off on the bike. (This is from video surveillance)

Bicycle was stolen from a locked location on a second floor porch, on a fenced and locked property.

Bike was locked to a bike rack outside of the UIC parking garage at the intersection of Halsted and Taylor. It was locked through the frame and the front wheel. It is a well lit and well patrolled area both by UIC police and Chicago police. Thus, I believe it was stolen late at night to avoid anyone seeing. Both the lock and the bike are missing.

Bike was in my garage, not locked. Someone (a worker or neighbor) must have left the garage door open at some point Thursday night or Friday.

Locked my bicycle up at 9 AM, saw it around 1 PM and discovered it was missing at 5 PM. It was locked to a tree [figure eight style) and was right in front of the building I work in. The bike is dark green and black and looks pretty new. If you see my baby, please try to save her from her kidnapper!

Locked it up around 11 p.m. to a chain link fence post separating my friend's backyard from his neighbor's. I'd locked it there on Monday without any problems, and my friend had also locked his own bike there in the same manner hundreds of times without an issue. Around 7 a.m. we heard what sounded like mechanical sawing but since he lives right by the Brown Line I thought it was just construction. Can't say for sure if that was someone sawing my lock, though, because I didn't go look.

Someone broke into my locked garage during the day while I was at work, and he/she/they stole my beloved cruiser and a toolbox.

The bolt from the street sign was unscrewed late at night on July 14th into the 15th. The bike was stolen with the lock connected to it. At the same time adn presumably the same people also stole my girlfriends 1970's Schwinn. It is a woman's frame road bike with red handlebar tape.

The bike was locked with another bike to the wooden railing on the deck outside our apartment. Someone cut through the lock and left the lock, and oddly, left the other bike.

I foolishly neglected to take bike inside just one evening, instead locked it up a railing behind my house, a spot visible from the alley. Next morning I found the bike stolen and the cut cable on the ground.
