Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

(On 8/3/2019, victim reported recovering bike at Swap-o-Rama, 4100 S Ashland.) 2 bikes locked together around street sign right outside the Steppenwolf Theater Bar on Halsted st in Chicago about 8:30 pm. Valet was working nearby, lots of people walking by & literally steps from the entrance to theater bar. At 9 pm, my friend went outside & was told that the valet reported seeing his bike on the ground with the cut lock & my bike was gone.

Rookie mistake! Front wheel only. Quick-released the rest of bike leaving behind the wheel and lock in remembrance of my stupidity. Keeping it as reminder of what once was.

Bike was stolen while I was out of town from Friday through Wednesday night. On 3rd floor back porch, door at bottom of stairs supposed to be locked.

Bike was in a secure garage. Door to garage was accidentally left open when roommate left for the day. The door was open from approximately 11:00 - 19:30 when landlord came home. Two other bikes were stolen, and are filing separate reports.

Bike was stored in locked garage hanging from hook. Returned home to find bike was not in garage. Neighbors reported seeing the garage open at 1:30pm, meaning someone gained entry to the garage.

Walked out from work after securing bike to official bike lock to find the bike and lock + cable gone. Bike was securely locked through tire and frame, with the cable securing rear wheel and frame attached to the U-lock.

I locked my to the Maggie Daley bike rack at about 3:30 pm on Tuesday, 7/30/2019. I returned at around 7pm and found my bike u lock and chain had been cut and my bike was gone.

My bike was locked to a parking sign on Ohio East in front of EQ3 store...near Eataly. Went and had lunch in Eataly and when I came out it was gone. I fund a small Velcro strap that was attached to my lock on the ground. I am a person of small size and It is not easy to find bikes that suit me.

Bike laying next to other gear on the sidelines of a soccer game. Black teen with short braids and a red shirt walked off with it in front of many people. Walked south towards Montrose Ave.

Returned home from work, noticed bike was gone from its storage location.

Thief must have walked into open personal garage, lifted bike out of rack from which it was hanging from the ceiling when garage was inadvertently left open.

Stolen after 11pm 7/28 and before 8:30am 7/29. The pole the bike was locked to was cut in half and bike was lifted with lock still attached.

Bike was locked to bike rack under the Fullerton Red/Brown/Purple station around 5:15pm. Specifically, the rack was on the north side of Fullerton on the east side of the alternate station house. Returned to obtain bike around 12:15am and found half of the cut lock on the ground with both sides of the U cut. Reported to CTA, 311, and police station.

I locked up the bike in the afternoon on July 27, and noticed it was missing on the morning of July 28. The porch it was locked to was damaged and take bike was taken.

Left bike locked together with a vintage schiwnn and two helmets locked with a cable lock to a bike rack. We left it at 9:45AM and returned at 11:45 AM. The redline, helmets, and lock were gone. The Schiwn was left in place.

Bike was secured with two locks to bike rack in well trafficked downtown Chicago location (Madison St @ Michigan Ave/Millennium Park). Secured bike and helmet, attended concert in Millennium Park. Upon returning 2 hours later, bike/locks and helmet were all missing. Possibly bike rack was unbolted from sidewalk, bike/lock slipped off.

My one of a kind, Heritage ‘Chief’ bike was stolen from my front yard. It was unattended for about an hour, and unlocked. It’s matte black, and is very distinctive looking.

Bike was suddenly not in the garage. Noticed while parking the car.
