Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I went to fetch my bike for work and it was gone. Someone was working on the grass at 9 am and said they didn't see it but my neighbor said he saw it at 8 am.

I brought the bike inside a gym where I set it near the front entrance. After working out I came back to find the bike stolen. The individual must have come in the gym and grabbed the bike while no one was around. I am currently working with the gym to get the security footage.

I locked my bike to one of the bike racks on the Madison side of Chase tower when I got to work a little after 9am, along with 3 other bikes. When I left work at 6:45 there was no trace of my bike or its lock, so I have to assume someone cut it during the middle of the day.

Locked bike at 9:45pm on 5/6/18 with a cable lock. Went to retrive it at 8:00am on 5/7/18 and there was no bike. Only the lock left at the site.

I left the bike at work in a sidealley alley way over the weekend. Unsure when the bike was stolen.

Admin note- on July 22 2018 the victim notified us that he had received his bike back thanks to a local shop: <<Kevin at Boulevard Bikes is a [] saint. I lamented the loss of the bike to him, he remembered seeing a kid riding one in the neighborhood that was way too big for him. When the kid came into his shop to fill the tires, he looked up the serial number here and bam!>>

Bike was locked in basement of apartment building to bike rack around a supporting a beam. All doors to building were closed and locked at 4:35pm. Returned at 5:45pm and lock was cut. Neighbor in alley saw a Hispanic looking man ride off on bike at 4:45pm westbound down alley. Apartment is located on 2300 block of W Haddon, Chicago, IL 60622, across from Clemente Highschool. Bike was intermittently stored in basement no longer than 3 days at a time.

Bike was locked in front of 333 N. Lasalle St. on a street sign. After work, it was gone.

Noticed it missing between April 30 and may 1st.

Occurred on the west side of merchandise mart along Orleans Street, next to divvy bike station and bus stop

Likely someone took it off the front porch.

I came out of work on my lunch break to find my bike was stolen from the intersection of Canal and Monroe. It was in the second row of bikes left from the canal street intersection.

Bike was inside an apartment building with a locked front door. Bike was on a third-floor landing (hallway) just outside the owner’s apartment. The area has no foot traffic and is generally accessed only by the bike-owner/roommate. The bike was not locked to anything. It was taken overnight between 5/1/18 and 5/2/18.

It was locked in the backyard at my boyfriends around a wooden post holding the house up on Diversey and Sheffield. I came back from work to find it gone. This is the 2nd day I’ve taken my bike out... so luck isn’t on my side... I’m worried it was one of the neighbors. There’s a back alley someone could’ve seen the yellow from. But it was the first night I ever locked my bike at my boyfriends so I find it hard to believe it was also the one night a bike thief checked his yard. Person who lives downstairs left his unlocked bike in the same backyard for like a year and no one touched it...

Locked up bike at a rack at my school around 8 AM, gone when I came out around 5 PM.

I rode my bike to work today and locked it in the same place I always do. There's a pedestrian passage way that goes from Dearborn to Clark to the south of the 55 W Wacker building. There's a wrought iron fence there with a small bike rack. My bike had its rear wheel resting in the rack and it's front wheel/handlebars resting on top of a thick wrought iron fence. There was an ABUS chain lock going through the frame, front wheel, and fence. I arrived around 8:30 AM and went to work. When I went to get lunch around noon I walked by and my bike was still locked to the fence, so the theft happened between 12 and 6 pm, when I left work. I would guess that happened before 5 since foot traffic increases quite a bit at 5 when people get out of work. When I discovered my bike was gone I went into the 55 W Wacker building and spoke to the security guard to see if maybe they'd have security footage but was told none of their cameras capture the sidewalks outside of the building.
