Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I was parked and locked at a bike rack with other bikes in front of City Hall around 3:30p. I was upstairs for about an hour when I came to find that my bike was missing. I immediately thought maybe I had parked it a block down, or on the other side, but after taking a lap across City Hall, and going down a block on each side, I had realized that a mistake was not made on my end, but rather the bike had just been stolen. Unfortunately, I did not take many pictures of the bike. So the only one I have uploaded is one of me and the bike, but please disregard the back behind the seat as I recently removed that. I hope this report helps me find my bike again.

Thieves entered my garage, took the bike, and exited through the regular lift door. The bike is registered with the Chicago Bike Registry and has been reported to CPD. Bike Odometer is around 450 miles.

bike was stolen from inside my apartment building. from the basement. the thieves broke in.

The bike was locked to a parking meter sign next to a Barnes and Noble, on a busy street in broad daylight with a newer U-Lock with a flat key. The base of the sign was unscrewed, the pole lifted, removed and then replaced after the bike was taken. The screw/bolt that was taken out to remove the pole was left at the scene.

Someone used a bolt-cutter to cut through the lock.

The bike was in a locked garage. The garage lock was broken and the door forced open. The bike wheel lock was cut.

My bike was parked in a thoroughfare on grand off Dearborn, U-locked to a street sign pole. I was having dinner in India House restaurant. The pole was unscrewed from it's base plate and the bike was stolen with the lock. There was an alley near the pole as a dark tunnel to flee with the bike. That said, the valet drivers were active parking cars in front of the bike. The alley also had chefs/ helpers of the restaurants in the building.

I believe someone waited until the bike parking area was not being watched at Lollapalooza, cut my bike lock, and rode away.

Someone broke into my garage, found the bike and some lawn equipment, and took it.

Locked to bike rack in front of UIC's Molecular Biology Research Building (Marshfield side) in the morning. After leaving the building in the afternoon, the bike and lock were gone.

Left bike U-locked to itself in gated gangway, woke up and it was gone. Thief carried whole bike off along with my neighbors. There were probably 6 or 7 other bikes there, as there were usually in that gangway. Don't know why they picked mine as it wasn't in great shape, just had a sentimental value.

I think someone waited til the aquarium closed and used a bolt cutter and took my bike. But they left the other bike that was locked WITH my bike with the same locks! That was an old Mongoose mountain bike.

The bike was locked to an iron fence, the perp cut through the fence at 2am to get to the bike. The u-lock was taken with the bike as it was most likely too hard to cut through that. It was only locked there for less than two hours. This was my only mode of transportation.

I biked to MSi with my son in a bike trailer, parked it at the north east bike rack because it would not fit at the packed north west rack with the trailer. Parked around 4:35 and came back out to leave just at 5:30pm. The bike, our helmets that were attached to the lock, 2 bike locks were just gone. The baby trailer was left - but they took the pin (which is weird cuz they had to unhook the baby trailer & just took the pin?). The frame and front tire were locked to the rack with a cable & combo lock & the helmets, frame & back tire were locked together in the Ulock. I'm hoping the bike is abandoned somewhere around 57th street/the point/hyde park because i'm not sure they could get the Ulock off the frame & back tire. I asked the cabbies who were sitting there but they said they had only been sitting for 10min max & did not see anything. Waiting for security footage that is going on facebook when they get it on monday. We think they thought it was a pricey tri bike because i have the aerobars on there but its just the low end version. how did they think the kid who came with the bike was going to get home. jerks.

The bike was located inside a 10 unit condo building in a storage room for bikes (approximately 8 other bikes are located in the storage area). Bike was used frequently and when looking to take a ride on Monday, august 1st, the bike was missing. Another bike disappeared from the storage area s few days later. The bike has a hitch located on the side of the bike for transporting a kids trailer. It also has lights mounted to the front and rear for evening riding.

I locked my bike up outside the Irving Park Brown Line station at about 8:55am on 8/5/11 and then proceeded to walk the extra block to my work. When I returned to retrieve my bike at about 6:20pm the same day, the bike was gone and there was no sign of the lock. That area is extremely busy during the work day and there are constantly people exiting the train station or heading to it as well as the businesses surrounding the station, so the cut and steal must have happened very fast for somebody not to have seen it happen.

The bike was located inside a locked building, in a storage area for bikes along with approximately 8 other bikes. The bike was last seen on Wednesday, august 3 at 9pm and it was missing as of Friday, August 5 at 3:30pm. The frame is 25" so it is only suitable for very tall riders.

Stolen from my locked and gated backyard. Thief must have jumped 8 ft locked gate and thrown my bike over it and into the alley.
