It was in good condition- a Silver GT- Backwoods- with a mini-speedometer on the handle bars. It had the horns on the bike that were black. I had recently had the neck stolen so It had a new Bontrager neck- The bike has black handle bars- shox in the front. It once had a water bottle holder, but that was stolen in the city as well so now it has just the screws where their once was a water bottle holder. The GT stickers are pretty chipped as I have taken this bike on some pretty significant off road trails. So the bike is pretty dirty. Distinctive feature would be that the front tire is a Mountain off road tire, while the back has a hybrid/Road tire. The bike needed a tune up so the geers kind of click so you can hear the bike riding from bout 15 feet away. Also one pedal is beat up so it is only rideable on the one side of the pedal. I love this bike and have had it for years! it was locked up on the side of my apartment and someone hopped my gate and snagged it somehow, not sure how but it happened. I had the bike locked up on the side passage way of my apt. and it was stolen. It happened within a few hours of me last riding it. I had it locked up on the side of the building when I got back from the gym late on a Sat. Evening- woke up Sunday to go to North Ave. beach and it was gone. The side gate of my apt. is 16 ft. high and locked at all times, and I had it locked to a wiring harness on the side of the house. So someone had to hop this gate saw off the wireing tube and take the bike, but oddly you cant really see thru the gate as it's a wooden gate with only tiny holes to see through- so the thief must have seen the bike before or seen me put it behind the gate. I would really appreciate it if anyone see's it that I get it back. It's my only transportation around the city and I really depend on my bike. Not to mention the sentimental value of all of the off roading trips and fun I have had - blood and sweat that I have put into riding this bike- Tons of miles! I would love to get it back!!! Thanks!

Rode bike to work and locked it up right in front of Lakeshore Athletic Club near the AON building. I actually came back down and hour later to retrieve sunglasses that I forgot on the seat, bike was fine. I left work around 6pm to find my bike gone along with the cable lock. I spoke to the valet and asked if bikes were stolen from there often and he said usually one or two a day in the summer months. Sad considering its a busy area and the bike racks are right in from of the b-ball courts.

I was on my way home from the bike shop. This bike was a replacement for the one that was stolen THE DAY BEFORE!!! Husband and I knew we needed u-locks and decided to order them from Amazon at home to save a few bucks. We stopped at Best Buy to run in quickly and look at something. Entertained the thought of taking our bikes in, decided that probably would be frowned upon, so we locked our bikes up together with the thick cable he's been using for the past 9 months on a sign that was clearly visible, just 10 feet outside of the front doors. I stayed within sight of the doors and looked out every 30 seconds. During one of those 30-second intervals, it disappeared. My bike was leaning against his and they were both locked through the frames and front wheels to the pole. Since mine was on the outside, it was taken. Cable was cut. A witness at the scene described the thief as a white male, early 30's, husky and bald. Police canvassed the area and put out a BOLO to CTA.

My bike was locked to one of the bike racks on the lower parking level at the South Loop Whole Foods. I was in Starbucks and Whole Foods for a combined maximum of 30 minutes. When I went back for my bike, it was gone, along with the lock. I immediately spoke to customer service at Whole Foods, who called the security people. Nobody saw anything. I filed a police report. I imagine the lock was cut and taken along with my bike... not sure why the lock was taken, except maybe to eliminate fingerprints.

Bike was not locked to anything but was behind a locked door on the second story balcony. I suspect that someone with roof access from one of the adjoining buildings has taken it. The only other way someone could have stolen it was by shimmying across the balcony and throwing the bike down to the ground.
