Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked bike to a "Do Not Enter" signpost just northeast of the McDonald's at Milwaukee and Western around 12:20AM, 10/18. Returned at 5:20AM to find signpost removed from base and on the ground, bike gone. The sign post is 9-10 feet tall w/ Do not Enter and One Way signs at the top, so the thief most likely unbolted the signpost from the base with a wrench, removed the post from the base, and slid the bikelock off of the bottom of the signpost. Returned at 5pm, 10/18 and signpost was upright, back in its base.

I saw the bike in the back yard in the morning when I left the house on October 14. Shortly after midnight, I noticed it was missing. I assume someone walked in through our gangway and simply walked off with it, lock and all. I am trying to track down the serial number, but I failed to note it myself before it was stolen. The bike was less than 3 months old. It was locked to itself with a U-lock.

Someone pried the hardware off of a basement storage room door, entered and stole my beloved bike... The basement isn't visible from the street which makes me think that someone has seen me bring the bike there - either a neighbor (sad, very, very sad) or someone following me.

The bike was U-locked overnight to the end side of a bike rack in the back alley of the group of apartment complexes I live in. The thief, using a power-drill or something similar, unhinged the top of the rack from the side, jimmying my bike up between where he/she unscrewed the two metal bars. Many bikes have been stolen from this location and it most likely the same thief.

The bike was stolen in broad daylight from a bike rack on the University of Chicago's campus, while I was in class. There were many other bikes locked to the same rack.

I had a U-lock AND a chain lock. The bike was parked outside the south entrance of the Logan Square Blue Line stop. There was a camera that may have captured the image of the thief.

In a rush to catch the train, the bike was only U-locked thru the fork / front wheel. The lock was left unlocked and unharmed.

I live in the coachhouse of a 3 flat with a small private courtyard. During the night someone stacked garbage cans and scaled a fence and removed my unlocked bike from the courtyard.

I locked my bike to a street sign post in front of my mother's apartment building around 3:30pm. When I left the building at 9:30pm it was gone. Before locking it to the post, I asked the garage attendant if there was any place inside the garage where I might lock it, since it was raining outside and I preferred not to leave it out in the rain. But he said there was nothing to which I could lock it.

Front wheel was left locked to bike rack with U-lock. Thief must have cut cable, detached wheel (and possibly front fork), removing frame and rear wheel.

The thief(thieves) either got our garage door code, or entered into our back yard and entered the garage via the service door. They stole 3 bikes: my Satellite (of Love), my son's little Redline (20 inch maybe, red with flames, with the addition of a green gel bell), and a 2007ish man's Bianci Cortina. They left the garage door open, which the police came by and closed. The police had been called by multiple neighbors. One neighbor told us of a kid seen loitering near our garage and is "99.9% sure" this kid was the thief.

I last saw my bike at noon as I walked to get lunch. I came back outside after class and it was gone.

I rode my bike to the el to take the el downtown, because my wheels needed to be trued and weren't in great shape for riding downtown... excuses excuses, anyways. I locked the bike to the metal fencing between the sidewalk and the street. I put in on the street side of the fence because another bike was on the other side, there were not other visible locations to lock it securely. I locked the bike through the front wheel and frame, with my helmet also locked into the u-lock. I left for class, was gone about 3 hours and when I came back it was gone. I talked to the supervisor working at the el-stop and a police officer in the little campus hub next to the el stop

This bike was secured in a locked, gated courtyard of my apartment building. Either stolen by another tennant, a guest of a tennant, or someone who hopped the fence. Other bikes farther back were not taken.

The bike was locked among many others, mostly belonging to employees at WBEZ, in a covered area near the inside car drop off area near WBEZ, halfway down Navy Pier. It was stolen sometime between 10 AM and 5 PM.

I had my bike in storage in my apartment building, locked to my roomates bicycle. I went to check out my storage locker found the lock missing and my bike gone, but my roomates still sitting there.

At work, delivering for potbellys, left the bike propped in the doorway for probably 3 minutes while I picked up a delivery and it was gone when I turned around.

A theif cut the cable and robbed my 16 year old daughter of her pride and joy bike less than 1 year ago. Please return it if found!

i believe contractors of the landlord who had been working in the garden apartment may have a key to our laundry room. i am positive that i closed and locked the laundry room behind me last night upon my return. i had to unlock the room this morning to gain access to the laundry room when i discovered it was missing. i keep my bike helmet on the seat and the helmet was sitting on a nearby shelf this morning.
