Rear wheel is a home built Mavic Open Pro 32 double butted spokes wheel while the front wheel is the original Alesa wheel with normal spokes. Bontrager purple handlebar tape and a brand new Nitto Technomic stem which has a Garmin 305 mount attached to it.

These models are distinguished from later Cannondales by their Suntour shifters, derailleurs, crankset, and hubs. The spokes are double butted (thinner in the middle than at the ends). Mine was sporting bright yellow bar tape, a silver Planet Bike Eco Rack, black racing fenders, lights, and plastic strapless toe cages.

My bike was stolen from the bike racks behind University Hall on UIC's campus this afternoon. Friday afternoons are pretty dead at UIC, and the coffee shop and building was very sparsely populated by 5 pm, when I left to retrieve my bike. I don't know if I left the lock insecure (unlikely but possible) or if the thief was able to manipulate the bike rack or the lock itself; I can only speculate. I'm also looking for my old bluish silver univega road bike--rather dirty, various pro-palestinian/pro-zapatista stickers and cloth grip tape. both of these bikes have gears, of course.

We had guests over for late lunch who had entered through the garage. After unloading their car (about 2:30 pm), the garage door was closed. When guests left our house around 5:00 pm, the garage was open again for a minute or so while the guests loaded things back into their car. When we went to say goodbye to the guests, we realized the bike was stolen.

Site is a little secluded but not terribly so -- common entry point to the building. I think this was probably done quickly and cleanly by someone who knows how to pick those locks.

Frame is in seemingly nice condition. Not too many scratches on paint but has a large rust deposit on the bottom right chain stay which has expanded the frame and chipped the paint. It has new mustache handlebars with tektro aero brake levers, shimano bar end shifters, and new black cork bar tape. Has a golden bell with a picture of a bike on the silver mongoose stem. Has a black Dank brand top tube pad. Has new SKS silver fenders. Has a very used black Brooks Professional Leather saddle with bronze rivets and a brooks seat protector underneath it. Raceface brand cranks and bottom bracket. Mavic blades spoke rear wheel, shimano front wheel, both with new Schwalbe Marathon tires 700x32. Also had a black Blackburn rear rack. Oh and my bell helmet was attached to the bike and was taken as well.

Incident Description: 
I left it in front of the Dominick's and hopped onto the purple line for a quick jaunt to and from Evanston. Locked up at 2:15 and returned at 6:45 to find it gone without a trace. Noone around including a Streetwise vendor who had been there the half of the time or the employees at Dominicks, knew anything about it. So so so sad. I assume it was taken earlier than later, but I can't be sure, and also not quite sure how the lock was broken without leaving any pieces behind.
