Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was kept in a locked storage room. My partner had used it recently to ride to the community garden. Bike was not itself left locked to anything after this most recent ride.

Bike is stored in a secure parking garage on a storage rack. Upon going down, bike lock was cut and bike stolen. The week before, our green specialized mountain bike was stolen from the same location and a red specialized bike in the same garage appeared to have attempted to be stolen. The additional bike attached with the lock was not taken (not a specialized bike).

Bike was stolen from unattached garage along with other items.

Since the U-lock was left attached to the pole, I think the lock was picked somehow.

The bike is locked in an outdoor path that is within apartment property (access to back doors and stairs). The bike was locked to a chain-link fence to the long horizontal pole. I walk out in the morning and see only broken pieces of the lock on the ground. The back alley door does not always lock properly and the thief may have been able to simply push the gate open and steal the bike. there is no other evidence aside from a few small pieces of the lock. The picture attached is from a website, but it is the exact model and style.

Bike was locked to a pole. Hidden in the back porch basement stairs. Bike was locked to a large wooden pole. Located in Evanston but located 3 blocks away from Chicago

Bike lock was cut. The front wheel was the only thing locked to bike shed post with U-lock. Cable was threaded through frame and back wheel and through U-lock.

Between 1pm Sunday Aug. 15 and 11:30am Tuesday Aug. 17, the bike was taken from the upper landing (3rd floor) of my apartment building's front stairwell. I often leave my bike unlocked in the stairwell since there is little foot traffic and the front entrance is always locked, provided the door is closed!

Sombody damaged my bike lock. I taped it and used it as the metal inner chain was unhurt. They came and sawed it off completely and took the lock

Left my black trek road bike locked outside of 40 E Oak. I locked it around 9pm on 8/16 and went to unlock it the next day around 9am (8/17) and it was missing.

Bike was locked in front of my building at Clark and School to a bike rack overnight and was gone in the morning.

Bike was in my garage connected to my son's trailer and he was there 5 minutes taking it apart.

I got my bike out of our locked storage area. Before I took off I realized I had forgot my wallet so I ran upstairs really quick to get it before I headed out and when I came back the bike was gone.

Bike was sitting 3 floors above ground on a rear exterior stair case of the 4 story condo building. Unlocked because there are two exterior building gates. One in front, one in back. Both are usually locked - the front is always locked. The bike is left unlocked due to it sitting so high above ground. I went to use it at 5pm on 8/13 and it was gone. I had just seen it the day or 2 previously, but hadn't used it. Never heard or noticed sound of potential theft given this rear exterior stair case is adjacent to both the master bedroom and guest bed/office.

On 8/11 at 4:30 pm, a resident of my condo saw a man coming out of our bike storage area carrying a bike. She asked him if it was his and he refused to look at her or answer. She tried to stop him but was unable to and he rode off from our building. We were notified of this incident at 10:30 pm. I went down to check for my bike and discovered it was missing. However, it was not the bike she saw taken, as she got a few pictures. This means my bike was taken sometime in the last few weeks since I last used it. Our bike room has hooks on the wall that can easily be pulled off. However, the thief gained access into our building in order to steal these bikes. He was seen with a keyring holding a lot of keys, so we think he may be using a master key. Our building will be reviewing video surveillance to confirm.

I am unsure of the exact time that the bike was stolen but it was not there as of 8am on 8/12/21. The bike was locked to a metal concreate bar after 8pm on 8/11. There are cameras but nothing the building can do in term of helping out with the disappearance.
