Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Heavy Chain was locked through the front wheel and to a bike rack. New ulock was locking rear wheel to frame. Arrived at Western Avenue Metra at 5:40pm and found the rear lock cut, and the chain lock was not there.

According to witnesses thief used a small chainsaw to break the u-lock. When asked if bike was his, the perp said it was and quickly sped his pace in breaking through the lock. He jumped on the bike and ran away.

Bike was placed (unlocked) at 10:30pm on 8/22 on an outdoor deck (3rd floor) accessible by an outdoor staircase that leads up from the ground level through the gangway. The gangway has locking gates at either end and the location of the bike would not have been visible from anywhere on the ground level. When I returned to the deck at 3:00pm 8/23, the bike was no longer there. I think that someone entered the gangway by climbing over a gate or walking through when a gate was unlocked, then walked up the staircase to the third floor deck and took my bike.

Stolen overnight during thunderstorm

Front bike wheel was locked to the frame and stored in the parking garage underneath my apartment building. Last seen on Thursday 8/17, and came down on Saturday 8/19 to find both the bike and the lock missing.

The cord/chain through the lock looked as if someone tried to cut through it the day before. The next day it was taken.

Garage door was opened, bike was removed from garage.

Thief/thieves broke into our breeze way by cutting the metal/steel grated door close to the handle. They used tools to cut and tools to peel back the metal so they could reach in and open the breezeway door from the inside door knob. 3 total bikes stolen.

Bike was in secured sidewalk adjacent to my building. It was there last night and gone less than 12 hours later. One of the gate locks is now missing a screw.

I left Friday, August 18th to go out of town straight after work. The last person to be at our apartment was my roommate and girlfriend. She left the apartment between 8-8:30 am on Friday. We came home on Sunday, August 20th around 8:30 pm. I noticed the bike was missing between 9-10 pm that same evening. I'm not sure when the bike was stolen but sometime between leaving for work on Friday morning and getting home on Sunday night. The bike had been locked to the railing of our raised first floor back porch. It was locked with a yellow and black u-lock through the back wheel and frame to a wooden post attached to the railing, with a cable through the front wheel. The thief removed the wooden post, with presumably a crow bar, to lift the u-lock and bike off the porch. They also took a black helmet. The building is located at the corner of Belle Plaine Ave and Ashland Ave. There are two entrances to the backyard. One is through the alley via a tall, locked wooden door. The other is via Ashland Ave through a low, unlocked wrought iron fence.

Bike was located outside the John Hancock buildong around 12pm where the cable lock and bike went missing. When I came back out about 2 hrs later.

After seeing the bike securely in the locked foyer of a friend's apartment (not itself locked to anything), it was gone when I came down to go home an hour later. The door that required a key to get in had been damaged, with part of it pried off in order for the thief to force open the door and enter. Some neighboors said they had entered only about 20 minutes later, and the bike was already gone.

Cable and U-lock combination. Cable around frame, front-wheel and wood supporting deck post. U-lock around back wheel and frame. Cable was found cut at the scene. U-lock and bike missing. Location was in a locked and gated backyard of a 3-flat building.

Stolen from garage

Bike was stolen from Del Prado Apartment's bike storage room.

I locked the bike to a bike rack outside of Servicios Chihuahua Inc and walked across the street to watch Shakespeare in the park. When I came back the bike was gone.

Stolen from property between two duplexes. Must have been more than one their for the fencing around property was very high.

A man broke through the two front doors of our apt building. Walked around our building's halls. Saw my bike and walked out.
