Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I entered my garage at approximately 5:00PM. Entered my home from inside the garage, and foolishly failed to close the garage door behind me. About an hour later at 6:00PM, I got a call from the security guard of our complex, Beekman Place, asking me if I realized that my garage door was open. I ran downstairs to the garage, and immediately noticed that the bike was gone along with some power tools. I live near the corner of Clark and Division and there are many vagrants transiting the alley into which my garage door opens. Also, there is a service door to a large apartment building, directly opposite to my garage door. This apartment building is 1260 N. Dearborn. Many people are entering and exiting through that alley service door during the day and night. It is quite possible that one of the residents of that building took the bike. If you live in that building, please be on the lookout for my bike. Thanks much.

My bike was locked to another bike with a U-Lock. The other bike was locked to a secure bench in my backyard with a cable. Went to throw out some garbage the next morning and both bikes were gone.

Bike was suspended from two U hooks in the enclosed back stairwell between the basement and first floor. This is multi-unit building, somebody left the rear door unlocked, and somebody entered our premised and stole the bike.

In garage over christmas came back from vacation, neighbor had left garage door open for a day and bike was stolen with other power tools.

There was no sign of break in, so I'm guessing one of the other tenants left the door somewhat still open at night and the thief walked right in and took the bike. The bike was locked onto itself, since there was nothing to lock it to. It was locked from the rear wheel to the frame

I was away over the weekend of January 4th, and came back to find it stolen from my second floor enclosed porch. It was locked with a cable lock AND an older model U-lock to the wooden railing of the porch. It is not visible from the street or even the yard...it would take having been up to my front door to see it. I suspect a food delivery person or contruction worker from the project next door, simply due to the face that very few people would ever see the bike.

I came home late last night and must have forgotten to lock it. The bike was in a locked basement of an apartment building...probably one of the other tenants. I put up fliers around the building. CASH REWARD if by some crazy chance one of them reads this.

Our basement common storage area was broken into and the storage closet in which my bike was hanging was pried open as there are obvious pry marks on the door. There was no damage to the outer door meaning the thief either had access to the basement or the door was left unlocked.

I had the bike locked up in my garage (it is a public garage) and it was stolen. there are other bikes in this garage, so it was obviously specific to my bike. they must have been watching it. but since it was securely locked in the garage, they obviously came some time with equipment and such to defeat the lock. they must have taken their time to do it. i don't have any other details.

I went to see a movie with some friends, on a bright and busy Thursday afternoon downtown, locked it up to a bike rack at 2:45. Got out at 5:30 and it was gone. Security guards and their cameras were no help.

This bike along with one other (black Bianchi mountain bike) was stolen off our back deck. Access to the deck is secured by two locking doors at either end of courtyard.

7am. I went to go stop at my apt to get the bike lock, I come back out and the bike is gone. So someone either was walking, sitting in their car, or someone who lives in the area saw me do it. The bike specifically is missing a headlight but has the clip on and the tailight is still on it. A brand new Bell tail light. The bike is a diamond back, handle bars in the middle are kind of rusty. If you see it or find it please call me!

Bike was in storage area in basement / back stairwell of building. Door to the alley was left unlocked by a neighbor sometime during the night. I discovered it missing when i was leaving for work 11/30

Bike was stolen while I was home over Thanksgiving from my 2nd story deck.

Trek all black women's bike stolen from my back porch! Locked w/ Kryptonite cable lock going from the frame of the bike through the front tire and then the u-lock was locked to the wooden porch rail. bike was well locked to a wooden railing of my apartment, behind a locked security gate. the thief busted the railing. and got away with my bike, cable,and lock. the incident a cured in a two hour window period in the day light.

Just lost last night. Not a clue who had taken it.

LEFT BIKE LOCKED TO BIKE RACK ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE MERCHANDISE MART ON EVENING OF OCT.30, 2007. THE BIKE AND LOCK WERE MISSING WHEN I RETURNED 2 DAYS LATER.

I went into the Loyola "L" candy store, placing my bike behind their propped-open door, where I could see it from the cash register. I turned around to indicate an item on the shelf. When I turned back, the bike was gone. I had just bought it, 4 days earlier. I was mad. I ran out, and saw the thief (small boy, had trouble pedaling, standing on the pedals, frantically trying to get away) halfway down Sheridan to Devon on my bike. I ran into the street (Sheridan, at rush hour) and tried to wave ANYONE down. They all thought I was a maniac. I WAS MAD!! When I finally got a cab, the driver couldn't/wouldn't help me to track down the thief. I don't know which way the kid went after he hit Devon, so it could have been someone from the area by 6500 Bosworth, where another bike had been stolen (I read the reports.) I will forever always be cruising the area, looking for my bike, and I pity the fool I find with anything even RESEMBLING my bike. I got another new one, and have set several traps at the same location, with the cooperation of the storeowner. I WILL FIND YOU!! AND I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW MUCH BLOOD IS IN THE HUMAN BODY. AND HOW MUCH PAIN THAT BODY CAN EXPERIENCE. AND I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I FIND YOU! (Pictures will be available on request.)
