Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

April 28th around 10pm, we have security footage showing a thief entering our locked garage and stealing two books and some other residents' items. An image of the intruder is also available. A police report has been filed and apartment building is made aware. Image is from the Internet, as I don't have any pics of my own.

The bicycle was u-locked to another bicycle behind a locked privacy fence in the patio well of a dark ground-floor unit. RECOVERED: LB reported On May 12, 2024, bike was located on Facebook marketplace and bought it back from the person who posted it for sale.

Stopped at home to grab a bite to eat and feed cats. Bike was leaning against the wall of neighboring building next the coach house I live in. Two entrances into the property between the front building and the coach house. Front gate to gangway does not lock but looks like a fence and can not be seen through. Front door was open when I came back down after about a half hour. So I assume someone just happened to walk by. Opened the door. Walked down the narrow gang way between the building around a concrete wall blocking any view from the street even if the front gate was open and through a small court yard between the building in the front and the coach house. Back door was locked. Someone had to have known that the front door is unlocked and have scoped out the place before. This time got lucky. Didn’t lock the bike because I was only there for short time and knew it couldn’t be seen from the street and there is no reason for anyone other than residents of the building to go through that area.

Incident occurred sometime between 12pm and 5pm, lock was missing with bike as I left work. Whole bike is missing.

Bike was locked to rack located in outdoor, locked courtyard. Bike was locked to rack through front tire. Wheel was removed and left behind, still locked to rack. Frame and back wheel taken. Oddly, right outside of our locked gate was a different bike laying in the concrete missing it's front tire.

On May 7 at 5:10pm I returned home from an appointment at which point I brought my bike onto the back deck of my building. On May 8 at 4:45pm I walked outside to ride to dinner, but the bike was gone.

I came home around 2AM and locked it to my back porch. The porch is wooden. The person who stole it busted the wood to get it. My roommate said he heard commotion on the back porch sometime between 2:30AM - 3AM.

Was stolen from secure condo building garage . Thief cut the lock.

Not sure when it happened. It could have happen in any of the previous 4ish days previous to the time listed. I assume someone was let into the building who should not have been and then just walked out with it. Though I suppose a fellow resident could have taken it too.

The bike was locked on a pole sign directly in front of the JD Sports store. After about 40 minutes of trying on sneakers and coming out of the store the bike was missing with the lock. Nothing was there. Someone must have cut the cord in seconds and taken off with the bike and lock. I immediately saw that the store has a camera out front of their building where there would be clear footage of who the thief is.

Locked to bike rack on south side of Northwestern University Library around 8:00pm. Came out at midnight to find the bike and lock missing.

Bike locked on bike rack outside 2225 w North Ave. Went to an hour yoga class next door, came back and bike gone along with lock and helmet

The AirTag on my bike last checked in on 4/23/2024 at 5:08 pm. I did not notice the bike was taken until 1:55 pm on 4/30/2024. It seems an angle grinder was used to cut through the chain. Two of the ringlets were partially left behind. My partner's bike - the same bike - locked up in the same way, just a few feet behind mine was not touched.

My bike was being stored under my back stairs. Someone would have to gain access to a locked gate, then walk all the way down the gang way to find it. I was not locked to anything, but sat right outside two back doors. My security camera shows the bike there at 6:32PM, but gone the next time it comes on at 8:34AM.
