Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was in new condition even the price tag was on which might have attract the person to steal it.

Locked bike at 5:00pm in front of my residence. Still there at 7:00pm. Next time I went outside it was 10:00pm and bike was gone along with the cable and padlock. I don't know the make and model of my bike as I'm very new to biking. All I know is that it's an older, silver pacific mountain bike with regular handlebars and bullhorn handlebars that cone out from the sides. It is pretty worn.

Left bikes locked to bike rack between 7 and 9 pm to go to dinner. When returned, the bikes were gone and the cable was cut.

Left biles locked to auto bike rack on Canal Street, directly across the street from the Metra Station between Randolph and Lake. Parked for dinner at 6:57 pm. When returned at 8:55 pm, bikes were gone.

Bike was locked to fence with cable lock. Then U-lock was locking back wheel to frame. Thief would have to have gained access to the gated parking lot, cut the cable lock, and then taken the bike away with the u-lock still on it. Theft probably occurred overnight May 7-May 8, but could have been one of the previous 2 nights as the last time I rode my bike was May 5.

I leave my bike locked to itself in the hallway of my apartment complex. There's 3 other housing units in the complex, most of the residents leave their bikes in the hallway as well. I got back from work today and my bike was missing. It was still there the previous night, don't know about this morning. Someone must have gotten into the building and took my bike.

I parked my bike around 11:30 am on May 5, 2016 outside of Merchandise Mart right off of Wells and W Merchandise Mart Plaza. When I left work for the day around 10 pm, the bike and the lock were both gone.

On March 30th approximately 1 p.m. give or take a half hour In front of the Sears Tower across from the pizzeria located in a bike rack I went up to the on the Sears Tower and when I was done with my visit came down and it was missing/ stolen and my brake cable left on bike rack.. I was with my fiance her bike is bright orange so if you look at the cameras in the area you will see me /we locked our bikes together at the same time.

Not sure exactly when it was stolen. It was last seen 5:30pm 4/28/16 and noticed it was missing 5:30pm 5/2/16.

We live on the third floor, bike was locked to wooden fire escape railing. The wood was knocked out and bike taken. Other bike beside it untouched.

I leave my bike on the back porch of my 2nd floor apartment. When I went to use it to ride to work this morning (5/4/16), I saw it was gone. I asked my neighbor when she last saw it and she said yesterday afternoon (5/3/16). My neighbors occasionally leave our back gate unlocked, so I believe someone spotted my bike from the alley, saw the back gate was open, walked up my porch steps and stole my bike. I believe this happened the night of (5/3/16).

This is the 2nd brand new hybrid bicycle stolen off my locked bike rack in the last year. I live in a 7 unit, 4 story condo building. There was no sign of forced entry. Each time the thief only stole my new bike and left the other alone. This time they also stole my power washer.

The thief broke through the glass pane of the door in my basement to reach in and unlock the door. The thief then entered my apartment and took the bike.

Locked the bike through the front wheel and frame around 1:55-2:00 in front of Harold Washington College. Came out of class at 3:50 to find out it was stolen.

I left my bike on my back porch, out of view, on the second floor against my grill. It would not have been visible from the alley, and our back area has a fence and parking spaces. Someone must have walked the back porch looking for anything easily mobile.

Combination was set the same as another bike that got stolen the night before. The combination of the first lock was too easy to crack (only 1 number off from code). Augh. Live and learn.

The combination lock was set with only 1 number off from the code, so we think the thief just fiddled with it and figured it out. Dumb on our part. We won't do that again!

Bike was in a garage that was closed upon leaving. Something caused the door to open on its own and the bike was missing by the time it was discovered.

The bike was locked in between two SEL engineering building at UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) along with number of other bikes, most of them old and cheap, the same spot as every day.
