My bike along with my girlfriend's bike and another person's bike were in the vestibule near the staircase leading up to her apartment. The locked door to her building has a buzzer for entry and the buzzer malfunctioned and was continuously buzzing (which we did not notice). The person who took my bike was able to enter the building due to the malfunction on the door's lock. One week since the original post: "On a walk with my dog, I found my bike lock. It was neatly placed on a column outside of a building located in the 4800 block of north Paulina. I took my keys out and tried the lock, and sure enough it was my lock.

After watching "Resolution" last night, I put in earplugs and went to bed in my coach house apartment. I thought I heard the garage door open, but I had just watched a scary film and thought I was being paranoid. I woke up this morning to find the door open and my bike missing. The bike has a lock built in to the back wheel so only god knows how they are using the bike. The only difference between my bike and the picture is an installed silver "ecorack" over the back tire with an orange bungee chord wrapped around it.

The thief somehow got inside the garage and had time to saw the hand rail it was U-locked to off without anyone seeing him. The bike was locked to a wooden railing in my back courtyard. The wooden railing was cut with a hack saw and the bike and lock were removed together. The courtyard has a gate that locks and the bike is not visible from the alley where the gate is accessed, so this may have been stolen by someone in my building.
