I live in a house with a personal garage that I share with two roommates. I had not been in or used the garage since the Thursday before. I can only guess, since nothing else was stolen, that one of my roommates went into the garage, left it open, came back inside, then back out again to leave giving someone walking by/ staking out my place time to walk in and grab it. We never leave the garage open without being in or close by so there could have only been a very small window for this to happen.This took place at Clarendon and Lakeside, one block south of Lawrence.

Bike was in good condition. There was a black rack attached the the back of the bike. It rides on 26" Continental Town & Country tires (both about 2-3 months old). There is also an attachment for a hand-held bike pump attached to the frame in the same place as the water bottle attachment (note pump attachment is broken). It has Cougar brand brake pads on the back tire. The bike was stolen with my kryptonite lock attached around the handlebar frame. There are also light reflectors on both wheels that change colors when turned on. The front light attachment was broken so the light is held on with duct tape. There was a sticker on the frame by the water bottle holder for a cycle shop.

We went out of town the morning of Friday 8/8/14. We returned the afternoon of Sunday 8/11. Within a couple hours of returned I noticed that our two bikes in the garage were missing. They were in the garage that was still shut when we pulled up. The garage itself is rarely opened and hadn't been for weeks. We had not ridden the bikes this year due to other circumstances. I am 100% certain the garage was not left open when we left. The only thing missing are the two bikes. I am NOT expecting to recover this bike, I am only hoping to add to the data about bike theft. I got the bike from resale workshop, and it's composed of pieces from 2 bikes. The fork is bright blue, the body is green and black, with a red sticker that says "helmet" on the. The saddle is relatively thick black rubber. It has flat handlebars with worn tape, and then silver-colored curved handlebars that angle up and forwad from the flat handlebars.

My bike was locked to a wire fence that separates the yards of two apartment buildings. Access to the area is through a locked metal gate. The last time I am sure the bike was in this place was around 10am on Sunday, Aug. 9 when my neighbor walked by the bike, then asked me whether it was mine. At noon on August 10th I found that the metal chain locking the front wheel and body of the bike to the fence had been cut. I did not find evidence of a smaller combination lock chain that had locked the back wheel to the body..

BIke was locked to a wooden fence inside my locked apartment courtyard around 8pm on Friday, August 8, and gone the next day Saturday, August 9. It was locked with a Kryptonite u-lock through the frame and front wheel, but the fence post was cut. The bike wasn't visible from the outside the courtyard, so the bike thief would have known about it ahead of time.
