Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I parked my bike out front and had a handful of things to carry in so I left the bike outside for a moment. Unfortunately it was not locked, but leaned against the front of my storefront apartment. It was gone when I came back out to bring it inside.

Today (7/28) I locked my bike in front of my condo building at 334 W. Menomonee St. for an hour when I went up to shower. There is a camera facing the fence that I locked my bike on, so I have locked it here before. When I went down (~45 minutes later) the bike was gone and the lock was gone too.

I locked the bike inside my front gate at the front of my building on N Sheridan Rd, near the intersection of Irving Park Rd. I locked it roughly at 8pm Tuesday July 27. When i came out this morning at 7:15am, it was gone. There was nothing left behind. Bike and lock are missing. It's less than a year old, minimal wear, multi gear matte black, black tire frames.

Left bike locked overnight and returned in morning to it missing.

Not sure when it happened but likely in the last couple of days. The bike still has an Eddystone Condo sticker on it from the last place I lived.

My garage was inadvertently left open from 8:00pm 7/22/2021 to 1:15pm 7/23/2021. My neighbor informed me that it was open and I went out to check, only to find that my bike was missing. The bike had a bike lock, a bike pump, a rear rack, a front and rear light, and a phone holder. Additionally, two helmets were on the bike, which are also missing.

Bike was discovered missing the morning of July 26 but could have been taken the evening before.

My apartment building has a locked bike storage area in the back of our building off an alley. I park the bike there every time I return home. On Friday evening, I walked into the bike storage area and saw my bike was missing. I saw it parked securely in that same exact location 24 hours earlier. I'm assuming someone broke into the bike storage area of the building late on Thursday night / Friday morning, broke/picked the lock, and stole the bike. I had a U-Shaped Kryptonite lock, valued at $95.

Bike was locked at Milton L Olive Park in the loop. Locked around 12:15 PM, returned around 3:45 PM, lock was cut, bike was missing.

The bike was hanging on a bike hook on a secluded back porch. Accessible only by going behind a garage and through a gate.

Locked to rack in laundry room at 8:00 pm, gone by morning. On 11/7/2021 the victim wrote: Your site was the reason I got my bike back. Approximately 3 months after the theft, which occurred on my birthday, our hero, M.U. was walking down Birchwood, between Sheridan and Greenview, at 7:00 a.m., and he found the bike wrecked and abandoned on the sidewalk, a usb cord tangled in the front wheel’s spokes. He recognized that it was a valuable bike, so he was immediately suspicious that it had been stolen. He made mention, and somebody steered him to your site. He fixed up the damage, called me, and I went to his place and got the bike. The thief removed the two water bottle cages, the toe clips, some reflectors, and also a few stickers. The bike remains otherwise in excellent shape. THANK YOU AGAIN! Not only did I get back my touring bike upon which I rode across Cuba and love very much, but M.U. gave me a reason for a rare occasion to not be utterly disgusted with humanity.

I recently saw my bike that morning @ July 21, 2021 at the staircase at the back of my house on Francisco and Devon. My bike went missing within the last 6 hours from 12-9pm. I always checked up on the bike and made sure nobody could be able to steal. Left the bike in the back staircase of my building. Well lit area at night.

I locked my bike to the tree right outside the entrance I use to get into Guidepost Montessori at Wicker Park (my job). It is right across the street from Big Star and next to a Divvy Bike station.

I left my bike on my porch as I walked to my sisters house which is just a few houses down, we talked for about 20 minutes and when my brother went back to our house my bike was gone.

In preparation for a morning ride, the bike was locked in the back porch (which is accessed by going through a gate between buildings), to a set of stairs. The bike was locked for less than 12 hours. Lock was hammered and cut, and left behind, along with the helmet.

My friend and I was riding to Target to get somethings, the location is 1154 S Clark St, Chicago, IL 60605. We locked our bike near the front of the entrance that has the intersection and bridge, but there is this sort of hallway/sidewalk trench kind of area where there was a security camera with no lights. The area was very nerve racking and suspicious as many people were looking and witnessing some form of illegal activities both in store and out. Arriving at the Target roughly 7:30 pm and spending 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minute I saw my bike stolen. The combination lock was broken on the inserting piece and that was what is left of the area.
