Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Woke up to bike gone, helmet in alley. I had ridden home from work last night around 10:30pm. I took another bike to cruise around in hopes it was abandoned nearby but no luck. ADMIN NOTE: On 4/28/26 the victim wrote to inform us that the bike had been recovered by police: "It was found in a backyard nearby. I live very close to Swedish Hospital and it sounds like the cops noticed that the building it was in the yard of had cameras and then said they saw the bike. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but I think if the shooting hadn't happened this weekend, they would not have found the bike. I suspected it wasn't very far, but hadn't had time to look in many places due to work. I combed some alleys and looked over by the river. It's not worth that much money and was locked to itself and it looked like whoever took it was rushing. If they'd had a truck they would've been able to throw it in to cut the lock, but it's not a super easy to carry bike, so I figured if it was someone on foot that they'd figure that out and ditch it. I had gotten a new lock and will be bringing it inside or locking it to something from now on."

Bike lock was cut to steal the bike. Happened while I was not home.

I walked outside in my locked backyard and my bike was gone.

The bicycle was locked up (with a Kryptonite lock) at the bike rack on the sidewalk in front of the Quang Minh Temple, 4429 N. Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 at 9:00am, on the morning of Saturday, April 18, 2026. When I went to retrieve the bike later on that same day at 3:00pm, it was gone. It had been stolen.

Thief rode another bike to scene. Cut lock with an angle grinder they had in a Grubhub delivery hot pack. Left the original bike at scene and took my bike to rock n roll McDonald’s. I came to 2637 S Throop to visit my friend at 11pm on April 15. I locked the bike with the handrail in front of my friend's house. Around 12:30 am, because of the rain I moved the bike right in front of the door of the house to take shelter from the rain, but I forgot to lock the bike ( because this is a gated community, I let my guard down). When we open the door around 4 am we found out the bike was gone. I checked the camera in the neighborhood, and there is a man( likely white) carrying a black bag with an orange or pink hoodie and black shorts and white sneakers came into the neighborhood and took my bike and rode off to the east on Throop Street.

Upon returning home from a drive to complete a work errand at approximately 3:25pm, which I left at 2pm to start, I found my bike was missing. It's stored on a double bike rack inside our garage. My roommate's bike, which was on the lower rack, was not stolen. I closed the garage door upon leaving, and the door was closed when I returned. There's also a traditional, locking side door, but I never use that because I access the garage using the larger, mechanical door. I found the side door to be locked. The garage is shared with our downstairs neighbors. After checking with them, they also used the garage earlier, but they stated they also paid close attention to closing and opening the door when they came and went. They had no recollection of my bike being there or not.

My apartment building has a bike room. I had my bike locked up there for a while. I thought I had locked the frame and the front wheel, but today my U-lock still locked around the the bike rack and my bike was gone, so I may have just locked it around the front wheel, or they cut the frame. You need a key to get into the bike room

Bike stolen from garage, which thief accessed with garage door opener that he got from our unlocked car. I thought the bike was unrideable bc of rust on the chain but apparently not.

Bike was removed from rack at 7:53 pm in front of 4715 N Lincoln Ave, along with lock. Grainy video shows thief is an average build man, with a red bag or item of clothing, and some sort of headgear (headlamp?).

I left bike and helmet locked to the bike rack and returned 2 hours later to find it missing. It was locked with an ABUS folding lock (combo). The lock and bike were gone, with my helmet left in place. I was informed by the security office that they reviewed the tape and saw 2 males approach the bike, pull a saw out of a grub hub bag and saw the lock. This was reportedly around 12:15pm.

Bike was parked at the bike rack outsdie of the Chase building on 10 S Dearborn. I arrovied to work at 7:30am and left at 4:00pm so it was done during broad daylight.

I was out of town for a week, it was locked inside my front gate to the gate and stolen- somehow metal seems pried and bent despite newer U-lock.

Left bicycle locked with a u-lock to a bicycle rack at the northwest corner of Kedzie and Barry, near Milli coffee. I was inside the coffee shop between 9:30am and 12:30pm. When I came outside, the bike and lock were gone.
