Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

2 bikes were taken - mine (pictured), and my roommate's, a black and red hybrid bicycle. Neither of us have our serial numbers - we are unable to file a police report. Apprehended thieves in the middle of theft, so not all bikes were stolen from apartment area. Chased, unable to catch an accomplice (a young African-American boy, ~12-14 years old, who was looking into the area, trying to open the door again, and who ran away upon catching my eye.) Most likely, theft happened as someone followed a neighbor into the apartment complex, pretending to live there, since our intercom is broken and there isn't a way to gain access otherwise.

Bike was stolen out of garage while I was out of town for the weekend. Our garage door also got tagged with the letters tckjg.

Very upset. Someone stole my bike. My mother bought that bike for me. She has since passed away. I had it locked in front of a residential area. I just got it out of storage bought a lock for it and had plans to repair it. It was to big for me when she bought it but now it was pretty much the perfect size. It just needed some repairs. I filed a police report. Not worth very much but invaluable in sentimentality. I'm a home health care worker for my father a Veteran and I don't make very much money to buy a new bike.

Bike was locked at the northern end of the parking garage in my apartment building. There are security cameras in the parking garage but none pointing at the place the bike was kept. I have requested video footage from the building but have not yet been successful in obtaining footage. I noticed the bike early in the morning of 9/2 when I was heading to the airport. Bile lock was cut and left at the scene. We have not touched the lock in case of fingerprints.

The bike was removed from our locked storage room (fob access only for residents with registered bikes) within our apartment building (the LEX Chicago) sometime between 5:40 pm on Sept 7 when we returned the bike after a ride and 8:30 am on Sept 8 when we realized it was missing.

The bike was there when I left for work at 7:45am and gone when I got back at 5:15 pm.

Door to locked room was found open with the light on. Entrance towards rear of property.

Biked home from work around 1030 pm on 9/9/15. Put my bike in my garage like I always do and found the next morning my garage was broken into with my bike being the only stolen item.

He walked by, checked it out, then waited for our staff to leave and returned. He took something out of his bag (wrench?), then stole the wheel and walked off West down Homer St.

My beloved tiring bike was left in aa large residential garage, and taken sometime between Saturday 9/5 and Sunday 9/6. Several moves were occurring in my building, and I'm guessing a door was propped open that the thief popped into.

The bike was in my condo's shared three car garage on friday when I left for work and then gone when I got home that night. Someone must have either slipped in when the garage door was open or come in through the front and noticed that the other garage entrance door wasn't locked properly.

Locked my bike outside Milwaukee and Paulina to bike rack. It was stolen within a 8 hour time frame. Cable was weaved between both wheels and frame was ulocked.

I was in the kitchen with my mother and sister preping for dinner when we saw two kids (10-12 yr olds) on shitty mountain bikes in our driveway. Our driveway looks like an alley (the city never completed the alley so now its just a really long driveway). Anyways, so we're used to having people accidentally think its an alley. Plus, our street was having a block party. But then, we see them both bolt out with my bike from my garage! One kid ditched his shitty bike for my brand new road bike, like they've done this before. We all go running out the front door. I chased after them into the near park running barefoot. Obviously I couldn't keep up, but watched them leave the park and go west bound on Foster Ave. I continued to run barefoot asking bystanders if they saw two kids with my bike description. One car shop owner said he sees the two kids messing around all the time in the area, but hadn't seen my bike. Ended up driving around Albany Park for an hour and a half asking adults if they had seen my bike. Of course when I get home to want to post on Reddit, but my Internet was down (fuck Comcast)! Its finally working and now I need as many eyes on the look out as possible. Apparently the kids had been stealing food from the block party and a parent asked what one of their names were. He said, "Caden". They were clearly scoping the block and probably thought we were not inside. The kids were about 11-13 years old. Both pretty skinny/scrawny. Caden, the kid who rode off on my bike is black with short hair. The other is Hispanic with long wavy hair.
