Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Went to get breakfast and when I came back I locked the bike to the fence and went to sleep. Bike was gone when girlfriend went outside at 8 am. I believe the culprit saw me leave and waited for me to come back. Locked with newer u-lock w/flat key. Iron bar of the fence was cut.

I locked the bike at around 8:30pm to the inside of the fence in front of my apartment building. My roommate checked on the bike at around 10pm and said the bike was still locked and fine. I got home at around 10:25pm and the bike lock was cut and the bike was gone. There were a couple kids still playing basketball across the street at Wicker Park. I then walked around the block and there was a Bible Ministry bus on the other side of the park as well. There are homeless people and low income housing residents that hang out in the park till around 11pm every night. I spoke with Officer Nelsen(first name), who patrols the area on his police bicycle and he said he would bet that a homeless person stole it. I'm just trying to figure out what homeless person has a set of cable or padlock cutters. I walked around the neighborhood and checked the gas stations(with air pumps) because both tires were flat. I did not find anything.

Bike was locked to bike rack across the street from the entrance of the Central Street el stop, about about 30 feet from an Evanston Fire Department garage. Bike was locked overnight from about 9:00 and was discovered missing around 5:00 p.m. the next day. Central Street was probably quiet so thieves found it easy to cut the lock and ride off without being noticed (but pretty gutsy next to the fire station!). Bike was locked secure to the rack. Lock was broke while I was inside a movie theater. No evidence of the theft was left.

Mourning the loss of my best friend. Bike Thief: I hexed you. Return my bike and hex will be removed.

Locked with newer U-lock w/flat key around main frame and bike rack at work. When I came out around 5:15pm the bike was gone and inexplicably the lock was still there and not compromised in any visible manner.

Bike was kept in Garage of apartment. Noticed missing around 5pm. Uncertain how it went missing, but was definitely stolen.

Stolen during the day at the corner of Erie and Orleans. The thief cut through a New York Kryptonite u-lock.

Parked in bike rack on Fairbanks around noon. Came back to get it around 3 PM and it was gone. No trace of it

A neighbor told me his mother-in-law and sister-in-law (a parole officer) saw two African American men (the mother-in-law who also lives in the building claims she did not recognize these men as residents) successfully jamming a screwdriver into a locked door that leads from the condo elevator into the garage on Saturday morning at 7am. Once discovered, the men ran. I am assuming they had already taken our bikes and were coming back for more, as that would be bold to come back after being discovered. I came down an hour later to see the bikes gone. To my knowledge nothing else was stolen from the garage that morning.

2nd story back wooden porch broken to remove U-locked bike. May still have and orange and black Kryptonite U lock on it.

Walked out of my apartment complex and a person who was waiting to be seated at a local restaurant approached me and said that someone stole my bike 5min before I walked out of my building. I was told by witnesses that the thief approached my bike, took wire cutters out of their bag and snipped my lock. A guy tried to chase the thief but he got away. The thief was an older Caucasian male (40-45yrs) with short light hair and glasses.

Two bikes were locked together one was stolen in broad daylight 10 feet away from a restaurant patio and active street corner.

Three bikes stolen from personal garage space Saturday morning. Two eyewitnesses saw 2 AA men jimmying the lock into the garage but they took off. Must have been coming back for more loot.

On a second floor roof deck, locked door at bottom of stairs. Not visible from ground level. Finished grilling, went inside for about 30 minutes, bike was gone.

My garage was either left open or opened accidentally sometime during the night. My bike was stored inside the garage, and somebody came in sometime between 1 a.m. and noon and stole it. I called and filed a police report as soon as I discovered it was gone, and went to the performance bicycle at Diversey and Halsted and reported it stolen. I called several pawn shops, but none answered their phones.

It was a crowded set of bike racks. Another arrival was locking his bike to a chain along a nearby service driveway. When I returned, only a few bike remained (all of which had U-bolt locks connected to the bike racks).

I locked it up outside. Went in, had 2 drinks came out to leave and no longer had a bike.
