Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I am actually pretty surprised that it was stolen. It was well locked and in a heavily trafficked area but it was clear they cut the lock, although they took it with them- the kryptonite velcro strap on the lock was left lying on the ground. Bummer, I adored this bike.

I parked my bike in front of my building and locked it. I went to seven eleven around 930, it was still there. my brother woke me up telling me it was stolen. There was no sign of the lock or anything, Im not sure if it was picked or it was cut. Admin note: Bike spotted (serial number match) at Swap-O-Rama, 41st/Ashland, July 10 2010, by Chicago Stolen Bicycle Registry admin- fence/thief hid it before police could arrive.

I parked it under the bridge around 8:30am to catch the train. When I returned around 3pm the bike was gone.

I parked by bike in the laundry room in my building on Sunday, May 23rd(it's usually a place used to park bikes). On the evening of May 27th, when I went to go ride it, it was missing from the area, and the complex. This bike was unlocked, in the open area of the Laundry room, but really is in a secluded area of the apartment building, and I've parked my bike there before. It had a thicker, cruiser-type bike seat(believe the Brand was Bell), and was just tuned up, and has a Village Cycle Center sticker next to the water bottle holder. I believe that somebody close by in this area or a neighbor(who would have access to the laundry room) might've taken it, as I didn't ride the bike much and have had it for less than three weeks.

The strangest thing was that my boyfriend's bike was locked with my bike, and when we got off the train we found his bike only, and my bike and the bike lock were gone.

normally do not leave my bike out that long, but forgot i left it outside of my apartment. coming home from a friends and rounded the corner of division and leavitt and saw the man lifting my bike and putting in the back of his dark green american model full size truck with a large stainless steel toolbox in the back of the bed as well. i yelled something and started running to catch up with him. he got in and sped away. i could not get close enough to see the license plate. he headed east on division through damen. i lost him and lost my bike. the man was not too stocky and latino looking. black pants and white t-shirt.

Bike was locked to bike rack in front of Chicago History Museum and stolen in the middle of the day. Working on a serial number from the bike shop it was purchased at, but won't have it until tomorrow. Thanks for any help!

The thief was a white male, white hair, white shirt, blue jeans or blue colored pants, about 50-55 years old, 5'7" -5'9". This bike was locked to a tree directly in front of my hotel while I gathered my suit cases in my room on the 5th floor and the valet went to get my truck. Less than 15 minutes! When I returned, the lock was cut. My sons bike was left there untouched. Several witness NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT! They just let it happen.

I loked my bike by U metal lock on the frot of my house, checked from my window at 8 pm, he was here, didn't hear any sound, my windows were open, looked at 11.20 pm -and he was gone!!!

I locked bike to pole with new Kryptonite U-lock on Monday 5/17 at 8:45am. Due to back injury, I couldn't ride for the next 2 days. On Wednesday, mid-day, I realized bike was missing. If you have any information, please reach out.

I locked my bike up at night as I always do on the bottom of my stairwell. When I woke up to ride it to work this morning, it was gone. It's unusual because the bike wasn't in a place where no one can see it. It was surrounded by apartment buildings. I assume someone must have cut the lock and took off with it late in the night.

I locked my bike up in front of Borders, got on the redline and went to work. When I came back my bike was gone. There were two other bikes on the bike rack next to mine. No new bike was locked up on the rack where my bike was locked which I thought was odd.

Bike locked in usual location outside of work. Locked bike at approximately 7: 15 a.m. Came to retrieve bike at 7:15 p.m. Another bike was locked where my bike had been, so I would guess it was stolen in the morning.

When I back to the street bike was stolen.

My bike was locked to a street sign with 2 other bikes. The ulock was cut and all 3 bikes were stolen. The theft occurred on a busy street in front of a bar on a Saturday night.

Was home for about an hour, bike was locked to porch with cable and master lock, went outside to have a smoke, bike was gone... two other bikes with u locks still on porch but moved

Locked it, went into art center around 5 and worked until 9; when I came out bike was gone.
