Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I didn't see it missing at first... it was right outside my back door cabled to the stairs. They must have cut the cable because the lock and cable was missing.

Chain lock was cut overnight. Bike was locked to a tree in front of my apartment on the sidewalk.

Someone cut my bike chain overnight.

Garage was left open or broken into. Bike was moved outside into the alley and a second bike was also moved. Police arrived but not before thieves made off with the bike in question.

Lent it to a good friend, and it got stolen off him.

I left my apartment (Logan Square area) at 4:40 pm and the bike was on my back deck attached to a wooden post. Returned at 5:05 pm and the wooden post was cracked and removed. Bike was missing.

I took the bike out of my Zipcar and leaned it against some recycling bins as I was clearing out of the vehicle. I got back in the car for a second to put my things in my backpack and put on my helmet and when I got out of the car my bike was gone. It happened in a matter of minutes.

Locked the bike to a street sign. Came out to find the street sign cut in half and my bike missing.

Someone broke into my building by smashing the glass on the front door and then stole my bike from the basement of the building.

BIKE WAS STOLEN WHEN I WAS IN COLLEAGUE'S HOME FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES -- 4600 BLOCK OF N DRAKE. COLLEAGUE SPECULATES THAT A STUDENT FROM ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL MAY HAVE STOLEN AS STUDENTS WERE WALKING BY AT THE TIME.

Failed to ensure bike was attached to rack, cable was cut, u-lock was left in tact.

Bikes were locked up while having lunch, we were inside for maybe 45mins max. Came out and bikes were gone. It was on a busy street in the middle of the day. No idea how they broke the lock, it was locked to an actual bike rack. We think it's a repeat offender from the area and we have some video potentially.

My girlfriend and I went to eat lunch at a local cafe, we locked up our bikes securely to the bike rack, 15ft from the front door of the establishment. We ate lunch and came back to our bikes no more than 45mins later. Both bikes were gone. My guess is someone picked or cut the lock and stole everything all together in broad daylight.

Bike was stolen out of the parking lot of my building. The bike was locked to the wooden deck of my building. The suspect was caught on camera and apprehended, however, my bike was not recovered.

bike was locked to outside balcony. last seen on november 5th robber climbed to second story balcony and took bike.

Bike stolen from garage. No forced entry but garage door was open. I think it was stolen shortly before I discovered it missing, at 6:00pm.

The bike was usually locked with a combination cable lock (black) to a railing at the rear of the residence. I do not know if the bike was locked on the night of theft, as I had come home with groceries the evening before and may have forgotten to lock it after bringing groceries inside. At midnight of the night in question I noticed a car parked on the side of our house (it is a corner lot, so the patio is visible from the street. The car was a newer white station wagon-style car with darkly tinted windows. I had never seen this car before and haven't seen it since. I don't know for sure that the thieves were in this car. Note: the picture shows the bike before I installed the seat, bell, and right pedal.

Bike was locked to a bike lock in front of California Blue Line Station from approximately 7pm to 9pm. Thief seemed to be interested in anything that was valuable and highly portable, thus only the seat, seat post, seat collar, and pedals were taken. Replacement price of parts is approximately $200. Additionally bike was unridable adding insult to injury. Thankfully the most of the bike lives on to tell this story.
