Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I got home from work early and left my bike U-locked to a sign post across the street from my apartment building since I was planning on leaving again in a couple of hours. When I went back outside less than 2 hours later, it was gone.

I was staying at my girlfriends place, I chained it up to the metal railing on the steps. (I don't usually park it there overnight.) I last saw it at midnight and found the chain lock chopped and bike gone at 7am the next morning. Note: Picture is a stock photo.

Bike sat with another black, trek male's mountain bike [also stolen]. They were underneath a staircase behind a locked gate in a back alley entrance, but faced the parking lot of the adjacent building. Best I can assume is someone saw it from within the adjacent parking lot, hopped the fence, and walked out.

Locked the bike up, got on a train. Came back...bike gone. Lock nowhere to be found.

Bike sat with another white, schwin female's mountain bike [also stolen]. Bike was unlocked on my 2nd floor balcony -- balcony is ONLY accessible through my apartment, which is on the second floor. Apartment was not broken into, so clearly a ladder was used or somehow the individual climbed onto my balcony and removed the bikes to, possibly, another party below. ****BIKE WAS STOLEN THE SAME TIME AS MY OTHER BIKE (YELLOW/ORANGE TREK 1000 WITH RED GRIP AND BLACK AERO BARS)****

I left my bike locked at the train station overnight with a Kryptonite Evolution Mini locked to just the frame (the wheels were secured using locking skewers that only I have the key for). I came back the next morning and it was gone, along with the lock.

Bike was unlocked on my 2nd floor balcony -- balcony is ONLY accessible through my apartment, which is on the second floor. Apartment was not broken into, so clearly a ladder was used or somehow the individual climbed onto my balcony and removed the bikes to, possibly, another party below.

Cable cut one of two bikes stolen

My bike was stolen off the 3rd floor back porch of an apartment complex in Wicker Park. I believe the person must have climbed through our back fence and walked up all three flights of stairs to reach our porch. It was taken during the loud thunderstorm. U-Lock is still attached on the front.

Someone entered through the alley after forcing our gate open. They stole my 60's green schwinn collegiate. It had a cable lock through the frame and front wheel but was not attached to anything else.

I locked the bike up at 5:30 PM; when I returned at 8:30 it was gone, and my water bottle was on the ground.

Went into bike shop and it was missing when I left fifteen minutes later.

lock the bike around 6pm before work, locked it through the front wheel and front suspencion (which was a mistake on my part, the lock wasn't put through the frame. when i get off work around 11pm the bike was gone, U-lock still attached to the rack (not forced)

Stolen

Thief broke through the back gate of our property and then defeated the (simple) lock to our garage. The bike inside was not locked to anything; we assumed the garage was secure. They took 2 bikes.

The street was really quiet when I locked my bike up, not many people walking around and not many business open yet. No cars or other bikes on the street for that matter. I was out to coffee and returned 45 mins after leaving my bike to find another bike in its spot. There was no evidence that my bike was even there, lock and whole thing was not there. I would guess that the lock was cut because the pole was too tall for someone to lift the bike over without being noticed. If I had to guess, I would imagine the person that parked their bike where mine was may have been the thief. There was a valet guy that showed up in front of the hair salon at about 7:30 am, I asked him but he said he had not seen a bike where I had locked mine.

Bike was checked on at 2PM, then was gone at ~7PM.

I arrived at ogilvie transportation center on Friday the 13th around 2pm to take the train to the burbs for a couple nights. Because of the taste of Chicago I could not bring my bike on the train (I was unaware). So, I locked my frame to the bike racks behind ogilvie on Washington ave. I took my wheels with me. Security at ogilvie was unhelpful and would not let me review the video from the overhead camera that monitors the bike racks.

Someone left a note on the pole my bike was stolen from that reads' "If your bike was stolen call 311 and report it. Police were called at 2:15am 7/16 but no report was made.
