Absolutely everything was white (tires, wheels, crank, toe clips, stem, etc) with brown faux leather handlebar tape and a ladies specific Brooks leather saddle. It was brand new in June, so it was in excellent condition with just very minor scratches to the frame.

Since I have owned this bike (since June 2011), I have always kept it in the inside back porch of my apartment. The interior of the porch is not visible from the street, and the apartment is on the 2nd floor (with a raised garden apartment). The back porch requires a key that only my roommates and neighbors in the two apartments below me have access to. The lock did not appear to have any stress or damage to it. My bike was on the porch last night when I was in my apartment and this morning it was gone. I have filed a police report, though I am currently at work and not able to access the report number.

Kryptonite lock rack on the vertical tube underneath the seat post. Rock Shox have some black marker written on the tops of them. Water bottle cage on the downtube. Hybrid tires (Knobbies on outside, smooth/street on the inside— they look like really worn down knobbies). Tioga headset, some Shimano components. Pedals are SPD clipless. I searched the internet for similar models for sale and there's exactly 1, in LA, so if anyone sees it in Chicago, it's probably the one I'm looking for.

Bike last seen Monday evening, September 5, 2011 around 8 pm. When I returned home Sunday, September 11 at 7:15 pm my bike was no longer locked to the metal rod in my parking spot inside my secure garage at my condo. The metal rod was cut and the bike, along with the Onguard ulock (newer u-lock w/flat key) was taken. My bike also had a bib number on it from a triathalon I did in Geneva, NY last summer. Bib #1355 Musselman triathalon.

Two individuals from the building, RV1 and RV2, recently moved out in a hurry taking money, a camera, and a cell phone from their step-father. They had a key to the bike room. Genral consesus among the building tenants is that they took the bike, though I know folks are innocent until proven guilty. Though I do not have the serial number on hand now, I did register the bike with Iron Cycles when I bought it. I will check with them tomorrow, 9/12, to obtain the serial number.

There was also broken glass and a stranded red backpack at the scene.

We think they must have had a truck to get away with all the stuff without being noticed and wouldn't be surprised if it was someone in the neighborhood. There is no reason for someone to target our place over any of the others on the block unless they had already seen what we had inside it (which was basically everything they took).

Stolen from an unlocked garage in broad daylight. Other neighbors lost more, including iPods and cash from gym bags, which were also taken. We speculate my bike became the getaway vehicle, so someone probably saw the thief peddling away with at least one gym bag, which would have appeared odd in our suburban neighborhood.
