Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike frequently stored in my garage, neighbors neglected to shut the garage door whilst moving and someone switched out their bike with my new beatnik Jamis black bike which is now stolen and missing. They left their bike instead which is a green older bike, resting against my neighbors car.

I locked my bike by the fence at around 2 pm. I come back before midnight and it was gone.

Bike was with mettaplic purple bike in the bike/laundry room of the building. Upon first entry the door seemed to be locked, but after i saw my bike was gone, the door had be forced in and the lock was busted. The otehr bikes in the room remained unstolen, and the was black and gray dust piles where by bikes were locked on the pole.

The last ime i saw both bikes were when i locked them up in my new apartment buildings storage room. Im assuming someone watched me go in after a ride and busted in, but it also could have a been a tenant from the building who stage a break in by busting the door. It coulve been stolen anytime between august 2nd and today august 9th. It appeared that the lock was sawed as there was little plies of black and silver dust on the railing where the bikes were locked. the mettalic bike has a gold handlebar, and a new crank than pictured in the accompanying photo.

Bike was last seen around 6:00PM August 4th, when I locked it to itself and stored it in my garage. I shut the garage door behind me. Sometime between then and August 8th around 5:30PM the bike was taken (along with another bike also in the garage, a purple women's Schwinn cruiser which was also locked to itself).

I was on vacation. Normally I would bring my bike inside for something like that, but I forgot in my rush to the airport. I am looking into getting the security footage from my building's outdoor camera which has a view of where the bike was locked.

Bike was locked to a street sign on Hermitage and Ashland. Someone dragged a garbage can from the alley, climbed on it, unbolted the parking sign from the pole, and hauled the bike up and over the top of the pole.

Lock and front tire were found at the scene. Frame was detached from front tire quick release and the bike's frame and back wheel were stolen.

Garage door accidentally left open and bike was taken from the garage.

Young 20 year old Caucasian man on foot was walking in our alley and unfortunately our garage was open and he stole the bike. We have video surveillance of the man. Report given to police.

I left my bike under the back porch stairs in front of the basement overnight. Gone by the next day.

My wife and I had ridden to the Salvation Army Thrift store located at 509 N Union Ave from our apartment in River West. We arrived at approximately 2:30pm and locked our two bikes together through a bike rack with a single cable lock. We were shopping for approximately 45 minutes and when we returned outside, her bike was stolen along with the cable lock. My bike was still leaning against the bike rack with no cable lock to be found. This is our third day living in Chicago and this was our first bike venture outside of our apartment. I am starting to rethink our decision to move here.

In closed, locked room with all other bikes in building. Someone entered building by either jimmying open door or caught it when someone left. My bike only one taken. Threw my lock and cable aside, took bike.

The bike was shut up in an enclosed area behind our condo building. The area was not visible from the alley and the only outside access to the area was a 9' locked gate. The bike disappeared sometime between 1pm and 4am.

Bike is routinely locked in my alleyway but had just come back to see it missing today. It was there at 10 pm last night, but was noticed missing this morning.

Bike was leaning on my friends locked bike on his porch for about 1hr. I had a lock hanging to the handlebars but did not lock it because I was too trustworthy it would not get stolen due to the age/condition of bike and time of day, and the fact I would be taking it home very shortly. When I came downstairs in about an hour the bike was gone. Did not file police report because bike not worth very much, but it has sentimental value.

I got the bike 2 days ago and had it stored in my garage. The lock was attached to the bike but it was not locked to anything in the garage. The bike is brand new. I last saw the bike at 2 pm on August 4. At 3 pm on August 5 I saw the bike was gone. The bike had a wicker basket and a Kryptonite 2' cable and a Kryptonite U-Lock in the basket. They took everything except my helmet, which was left on the floor.
