Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was locked in my apartment’s bike storage room with 50+ other bikes. The bike itself was not locked and only residents have access to the bike room. [Admin note-- informed by victim on 7/13/22 that bike showed up in storage room a few days later- possibly "borrowed" by neighbor.]

I parked my bike at the red rack outside Metropolis Coffee Company on Thursday, 7/7/2022, around 7 pm. And found it lost on Saturday 7/9/2022 10:30 am. It's stolen sometime in between...

My bicycle was locked outside the main entrance to the William Eckhardt Research Center at the center of the U Chicago campus (across from the library dome). After returning from dinner near campus my bicycle was missing, and no obvious evidence was left behind. The lock in it's entirety was missing as well. I believe that my bicycle was present when I left for dinner, as this was a very full rack at that time. I been in Chicago less than a week, at work for 3 days (where my bike was stolen from), this is not a good impression.

I recently moved to a new address with an elevated first floor balcony and deck area (private). My bike remained on the balcony during the first few days of moving as I set up the outdoor area with patio furniture and plants. The balcony is not visible from the alley and the back gate is secure (if closed properly), though I did not lock the bike to the balcony.

I was in the bucktown-wicker park library for a few hours. My bike was locked to the orange bike rack outside the front door. When I came out around 5:15pm it was gone.

I arrived at the ravenswood metro station around 6:50pm and locked it to one of the bike racks under the tracks on Leland (northside) and Ravenswood. I spent the evening at Redline VR, just across the street, and when I came out at 10 PM it was gone.

Locked to Clybourn Metra Station bike lock adjacent to parking area under covered awning. Parked during AM commute, returned during PM commute to missing bike. Mistake on my end not taking with me on train, but had parked there several times before no issues (not overnight).

Bike was stolen from the North side of Lane Tech. It was locked to the fence.

The wooden fence post my bicycle was chained to was physically torn out. Private lot of our apartment complex.

My bike was unlocked on my porch. I live on the second floor of a smaller building. My porch is slightly visible from the sidewalk — usually I lock up my bike but because of the storms, I had been moving it in and out during the day and must not have locked it up. Someone came and took my bike off of my porch, I saw them as they got away but couldn't catch up to them.

The bicycle was locked in my basement and must have been stolen by someone with a key to the building

Bike was not locked inside of garage.

Came back to where bike was located on bike rack in front of the Forest Italian Deli. The bike was completely gone, with only a cable remaining from the bike.

The bike was locked at the bike rack of Montrose Birds sanctuary from 1.00 pm to 4pm. The front and rear wheels were attached to the body and rack. I used a lock with 4 digits, but only changed 1 digit when locking it.

I keep my bike on our 3rd floor back balcony. The bike itself isn't locked the pack yard and access to the balcony is gated and locked.

Discovered bike missing around 9:15. Two cable locks had been cut and left at the scene. A heavy chain lock and U-lock (used to secure the other locks to an immovable object) were left undamaged.

cut with cutters the bike was in front of my school because on the last day I had a lot to carry so i walked. I forgot to go back and get it and was there for 1.5 weeks. i went there and it was gone.
