Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Didn't know this site existed until one year past the incident. Wish I would have known about this when it happened. I discovered my bike was stolen from my condo basement. My bike was locked to my families other 3 bikes with a chain lock. It was cut and only my bike was stolen.

Bike was locked in a storage unit in a garage off an alley.

I left my apartment for church and my bike was no longer there. I remember seeing it the night before locked up as usual. It must have been stolen during the night.

Several bikes were stolen at the same time from our secured parking garage. The thieves entered the garage by jumping on dumpsters in the back alleyway, cutting through a chain linked fence with power tools, and pulling the bikes out through there and into a van.

Locked bike at around 2 am, saw lock cut and left at the scene when checked on at around 11 am. Bike was locked to bike rack in gated apartment courtyard. The cable lock held two bikes onto the bike rack, but only one bike was stolen. The courtyard gate was not locked and was found propped open in the morning.

bike was locked up to other bikes with multiple ulocks and cables. cables were snipped with bolt cutters and left on scene. another bike was left in the common area outside of bike room. abandoned bike is recognized as belonging to a local vagrant.

Bike last seen at 5:30 pm. Security footage of two men in reflective vests using a power tool to saw off locks was given to police. Theives cut locks on two bikes and rode them out of the garage.

Bicycle cable was cut and left at the scene.

On 8/6/2018, owner reported that bike was recovered. Bike was stolen on the night of Thursday July 8 from 2nd story porch between 10:30 pm - 8:00 am. Intruders must have jumped the surrounding fence and walked out with the bike.

Garage was broken into overnight.

I arrived home at 1 AM and saw my garage was closed. The next morning we woke up at 7:30 AM and saw the garage door was open. Our gate to our yard was open so it is obvious that somebody walked in through the alley open the back window to our garage cut the lock open the garage door and likely had a friend left her into a truck. ( there are cigarettes on the ground of our garage as if they fell out of someone's shirt pocket). We live in a very quiet area of the city so I am fairly certain that this was a planned theft. The gates to our yard were open about a week ago which I did not think much of, but I am guessing they were scoping out the situation.

Bike has been stored in secure basement area. Was not used in about a week and went missing. Date and time are estimated.

Bike was last seen when locked to itself in the bike room of a private apartment building on the night of June 27th. Was discovered missing on the morning of July 7th. Apartment building is 424 West Diversey Pkwy, located on the corner of Sheridan Road and West Diversey Parkway. Bike was locked and stored in the first floor bike storage room which is only accessible with a valid apartment key.

My house was broken into and my bike was stolen.

I've been storing my bike, along with two roommates' bikes, in a sunroom area in the back of our apartment since we moved in over a year ago. Around 11:30 p.m. July 6, all bikes were there, but by 8 a.m. July 7, all were gone. Not sure how they got in as we all habitually lock the back door to our building. Bikes were in a locked room, but not locked to anything inside the room. Appears they wheeled the bikes out to the back area between us and the coach house, lifted bikes over our fence into neighbors' yard (as that's where our helmets were found), and exited through the back alley. They ditched one of my roommate's bikes in the alley a few houses west of us, but took the other two.

Locked up bike at around 7 pm on rush street outside the entrance to the AMC theatre close to intersection of Rush and Ohio. I came out at roughly 10:15 pm. I found the bike missing and the cable and helmet left at the rack. I asked the theatre if they had cameras outside. They didn't. I went across the street to see if that building had cameras. The garage told me they weren't focused on the spot.

Bike was locked in the same location it had been in a closed gated area every night. Gate lock had been missing so someone must have opened the large gate doors to get in. Bike was gone next morning with cut cable lock left where bike was
