Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I last saw my bike at noon as I walked to get lunch. I came back outside after class and it was gone.

I rode my bike to the el to take the el downtown, because my wheels needed to be trued and weren't in great shape for riding downtown... excuses excuses, anyways. I locked the bike to the metal fencing between the sidewalk and the street. I put in on the street side of the fence because another bike was on the other side, there were not other visible locations to lock it securely. I locked the bike through the front wheel and frame, with my helmet also locked into the u-lock. I left for class, was gone about 3 hours and when I came back it was gone. I talked to the supervisor working at the el-stop and a police officer in the little campus hub next to the el stop

This bike was secured in a locked, gated courtyard of my apartment building. Either stolen by another tennant, a guest of a tennant, or someone who hopped the fence. Other bikes farther back were not taken.

The bike was locked among many others, mostly belonging to employees at WBEZ, in a covered area near the inside car drop off area near WBEZ, halfway down Navy Pier. It was stolen sometime between 10 AM and 5 PM.

I had my bike in storage in my apartment building, locked to my roomates bicycle. I went to check out my storage locker found the lock missing and my bike gone, but my roomates still sitting there.

At work, delivering for potbellys, left the bike propped in the doorway for probably 3 minutes while I picked up a delivery and it was gone when I turned around.

A theif cut the cable and robbed my 16 year old daughter of her pride and joy bike less than 1 year ago. Please return it if found!

i believe contractors of the landlord who had been working in the garden apartment may have a key to our laundry room. i am positive that i closed and locked the laundry room behind me last night upon my return. i had to unlock the room this morning to gain access to the laundry room when i discovered it was missing. i keep my bike helmet on the seat and the helmet was sitting on a nearby shelf this morning.

lock clipped, ulock viced? i guess

A guy was seen walking down the alley behind our building with a bike, helmet and shoes of my missing Giant. the witness also said the main car gate in our inclosure was open. UGH!

Bike was locked to fence alongside sidewalk in front of Lane Tech High School near Addison Street. Bike and lock were missing.

The bike had a rear flat tire and no bike seat at the time it was stolen. Chances are, somebody inflated the tire, broke the lock, and stole the bike. This bike is a WorkingBikes bike, so please note the sticker on it!

Bike was taken between 3pm-7pm from Pearson Avenue in front of Macy's at Water Tower Place. Bike was locked to a bike rack.

Bicycle was stolen from garage while door was open. Owner was mowing grass in back yard on a riding mower at the time. Thief unbuckled helmet from top tube and placed in on shelf before taking bicycle. Theft was not noticed until owner returned to garage, at which time police were notified.

I think they picked my back door lock. It's happened before, they got to us before the building changed the locks. It's gotta be someone local, i'm thinking. Someone who sees that we have bikes and knows when to come.

Bike was hanging inside my garage which faces Avondale in Bucktown; either the garage door was open or someone hacked the security code on the door opener. Was just noticed missing today. Has black cable combination lock wrapped around main frame.

this is the second time my bicycle has gotten stolen. it was returned the first time, which was a blessing but i doubt that i will get it returned this time. i take the train every tuesday afternoon to go to my class in the burbs and come back for it on wednesday mornings. i lock it where all the other bikes are locked on armitage by the train station, i bought one of those smell u-locks that fit in my back pocket, and i check and double check every time i lock it. this bike is very dear to me, please please if you see it call me/email me. i just want it back, If found, no questions will be asked, so please, please, dig deep inside and use whatever inkling of altruism you have to return it, please give me my baby back :(

We have a storage room in the basement and rear of the 3 flat that I live in. The door was kicked in and the bike was really the only thing that wasn't behind another locked door.

My bike was locked to the bike frame on the south side of the train tracks along Crescent Avenue in Wheaton, IL. This particular bike rack is concealed between the train tracks (hill) and the cars that are parked in the parking lot adjacent to the tracks. Therefore, I believe that someone was able to walk up to the bike unnoticed and either cut the cable or pick the lock and then simply walk away with the bike like it was theirs. There are some businesses and residential homes in the area, but since the rack is concealed between the tracks and the parked cars, it made it easy for someone to take their time to remove the lock without being noticed. This bike rack should be removed from this concealed area and I definitely will never lock up a bike on this rack ever again. Also, when I returned at the end of the work day (5:30pm), there was another bike locked up in its place, which tells me that the thief must have stolen my bike in the morning hours in order for the other person to be able to lock their bike in the same location where my bike was locked.

Locked up at the Metra Station (Lake Cook Rd stop on the MDN Milwaukee District North line) Friday at 5:20pm - gone on Monday morning...
