Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Stolen, from W Division in Wicker Park, U-Lock was cut through both sides, half of lock left as scene. Occurred over night during flood and heavy rain conditions.

I believe someone ran into my garage while I was working on my car.

On 10/17/17, the CSBR received an email from the former victim: "My bike and a substantial amount of booze were stolen from the back of my place of work (Revel Room in Wicker Park) right at last call on Friday night. After closing time, we reviewed camera footage, circled the entire neighborhood, filed a police report, etc. The following night around 10:00pm, the thief thought it'd be a good idea to come back to the scene of the crime (idiot) likely thinking he and his friends could get away with stealing more booze. He was arrested in front of the bar, and he later admitted to everything. The cops then found my bike in his parents' garage. Unfortunately none of the booze was recovered with the exception of two partially consumed bottles. I was then finally able to ride my bike home from the police station at 6:00 Sunday morning. I'm still blown away by how everything came full circle in the matter of 24 hours. I couldn't be more thankful for the Chicago bike community and for all the friends who spread the word on this incident." I bartend at The Revel Room in Wicker Park. For the last 2.5 years, I've been riding my bike to work and have kept it in the very back near our office and walk-in cooler. It is an employees only area. On Friday night at 1:20am I stepped to the back behind our building to take a 5 minute break. I noticed my bike was outside tucked between two buildings. I thought to myself "that's strange and also not cool." I took the bike back inside (the back door automatically locks from the outside) and asked my entire staff if they had touched or moved my bike outside. They all replied with an honest "no." After 2:00am rolls around, we are closing the bar, my door guy and I notice that my bike is no longer in the back. He rides around the neighborhood (twice) and doesn't see anything. We take a look at the security cameras and see my barback taking a quick smoke break in the back around 1:25am, the bike is still there. Not even 5 minutes after he comes back in at exactly 1:30am, there is a man frantically walking out the back door with my bike and 3 to 4 bottles of alcohol. He snuck right past my floor past at the exact moment that we were doing last call at the bar. My door guys recognized him from the camera and identified him as being roughly 6 feet tall, thin, hispanic, very long hair in a pony tail, and a beard, mid to late twenties. Once I collected myself, I then filed a police report.

A man opened our front gate (locked) and proceeded around side of building to back stairway area. Two bikes were locked - one female bike with a solid lock and the men's with a cable and padlock. The man cut the cable and exited out the front entrance in broad daylight. We have security camera footage and you can clearly see his face. He is an below average in height (about 5/6") man with shaved head and small mustache - either light skin African American or Hispanic. He was wearing a silver/grey colored puff vest; a navy blue sweatshirt under that; and gloves. I can supply the camera footage if anyone wants it.

We have a bike parking area behind two keycard accessed entry doors. It was brought in around 10am and left overnight (stolen between 5pm and 7am the next day). Another bike was stolen at the same time.

The bike was hanging on the wall in my shared garage. I left at 5pm; when I returned home at midnight, the bike was gone.

Our garage door was accidentally left open last night and this bike and another one (purple and yellow Centurion) were stolen sometime between 6PM and 7AM. I'm not sure if it still has the red tires--will ask my husband (it's his bike).

Our garage door was accidentally left open last night and this bike (and another one) were stolen. The bike shown in the photo is an identical one that I saw on the street in NYC and took a pic to send to my dad because it was just like his, but his (the one stolen) has yellow tape on the handlebars.

I came outside my apartment building this morning to find my bike (and lock) missing. Multiple bikes are still locked to the same bike rack (they were there much longer than my bike).

Was noticed at 7:00 am on 10/13, but could have been at any point in the two weeks leading up to that date.

I took the bike off of the rack on my car and helped my friend carry some bags. I spaced for a few minutes, accidentally leaving my bike leaning against a tree for a few minutes. When I realized, I dashed out and it was gone.

I parked the bike on the outside of the hospital wear I work at about 7:30 a.m., just outside the west side employee entrance. I normally park/lock the bike on the inside through a key-access, but that day the inside bike rack was full, and I was forced to lock the bike up on the outside bike-rack. I was leaving the hospital at about 3:30 p.m. and found my bike was missing with the u-lock on the ground; the cable I use to secure the front wheel was missing. The u-lock showed a clean cut through the metal. Based on the striations that could be seen on the cut portion makes me believe the u-lock was cut with an electric angle grinder.

In front of Milk and Honey outside of their patio seating area. I was inside for 15 minutes and came out to find my bordo lock on the ground and the bike gone. Two witnesses at the restaurant after I noticed the bike gone. No security camera footage at the moment.

My landlord suggested to store my bike in the backyard. it's been store there for four days. On Monday it was still there and on Tuesday it was missing. Someone must have jumped our fence and walk about 30 feet to steal my bike. Also, someone either has been looking through backyards or someone who knew where my bike was took it.
