Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike was locked to a bike rack outside of my work on 325 w ohio street and my lock was cut.

I had been away from my home for several days and came home to find the bike missing; it had been locked to the gas meters outside my building. The back wheel was locked to the frame by a u-lock.

I know exactly what happening. Normally I lock my bike to a street sign in front of my apartment building - 6114 N. Winchester Ave, in Roger's Park. I arrived home as it was getting pretty dark. As I was about to start locking the bike, three black children (they seemed about 10-14) pointed at an outdoor cat and said "Is that your cat?" In the dark, the cat kinda did resemble mine, so I immediately went to the cat to examine it. Probably 20-30 seconds passed, and when I returned my bike, and all the kids, were gone. I promptly walked to Emmerson Park, where I saw three kids who might have been the same ones. When I approached them, they ran. One tripped, and I asked him where my bike was - he said it was taken by the other two kids, not him. I suspect these kids live somewhere in my neighbourhood, but I've no proof and I probably couldn't identify any of them.

Bike was locked in my garage - we're unsure if garage door was forced open or if a neighbor left it open. At 6 pm 8/11, we entered garage and bike was gone. Overhead garage door was wide open. It's set to auto close if left open too long.

Garage door was force open. Lock was cut and left at the sceen. The chain was wrapped around 3 frames. 2 of the 3 bikes were stolen. 3rd was retrieved when thieves were interupted

Bike was locked up to itself with a u-bar bike lock in my detached garage. An individual forced open the locked side door to my detached garage, and removed my bike from the inside of the garage. Likely would have to carry the bike away because the u-bar lock made the wheels immobile.

Bike stolen from condo garage

I left my bike at the racks under the Belmont L on the north side on Thursday (Aug 6), was planning to grab it today on my way home from work. It was gone, as was my lock.

I was actually riding/had the bike on hand when it was stolen about two blocks from my place at Evergreen and Damen. I came to on the grass next to the road when a runner woke me up. I had been drinking/chatting with friends but really did not have that much. My body/lock/backpack show no evidence of a crash, but I have some pain in my forehead and I'm pretty out of it at the moment. I think I may have been hit in the head but I had expensive camera gear in my backpack which was leaned up against a gate and was not stolen or tampered with from what I can see. My last memory is riding down Milwaukee Avenue from Avondale, where my buddy lives.

Bike was parked and locked to rack at Skokie library at 9:00AM. At about 10:00, other library users noticed broken lock and bolt cutter at bike rack, notified security. I was not informed of this. I discovered bike missing at about 11:55AM - contacted library security and Skokie police. The picture provided for this bike is about 11 years old. The differences are black wall tires and a different saddle. The carrier bag is the same, but torn a little bit.

Bike was missing when I returned to the bike rack at the end of the day.

Happened between midnight and 10 am. They walked up my stairs and broke off the railing post the bike was locked to

Stolen bike was locked to bike rack with another bike. Other bike was locked with U-lock through front wheel and frame onto bike rack. One bike was stolen while eating in restaurant nearby. Crime was not witnessed.

May have been stolen anytime between 9 pm on August 6 to 9 am August 7 from the third-floor porch of an enclosed, key-only access apartment building near Howard station.

Bike locked in front of 300 S Michigan. Stolen in broad daylight in front of patio full of restaurant goers.

The bike was in my garage in Bucktown. The door was left open and the bike was stolen out of it. I'm doing my first Triathlon on August 30th, so I need the bike to train and participate in it. Anything you can do to help would be great!!

Bike was locked up at Schaumburg Metra train station in a Saris multiple frame locking system with a U-lock and cable. U-lock was sawn in two places. bike stolen between hours of 8 am to 5 pm. Giro white and yellow helmet was attached to cable, black letters.
