Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was locked inside my apartment in Lincoln Square. It was not locked to anything, but both of my apartment doors were. My suspicion is that one of the contractors that has been in and out of my building has it, because it isn't exactly visible from the outside, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions or rule anything out.

it appears that one part of the bike rack was unbolted from the frame and potentially slid off the frame. however, there were multiple other bikes on the same rack. other than that, not really sure how it may have been stolen. there were no remnants of the lock anywhere on the ground, and it was a OnGuard 8000 Brute LS quattro bolt u-lock. not sure of the exact date, but it was originally locked up on August 7th, and was discovered missing on August 18th.

On my way to work, I locked my bike up at the Sedgewick Brown Line stop. I removed the front wheel and placed it next to the back wheel. I then fitted the u-lock through both wheels, body of the bike, and bike rack. Upon my return to the bike at the end of the day, I found no signs of a bike or wheel or bike lock. There are cameras on site to which I asked the CTA representative, "Who might I contact to see video surveillance as my bike is no longer there?" His reply was uneducated and referred me to dial 311. I submitted a police report and will be inquiring about the video surveillance from the day.

I parked the bike outside of the Art Institute at 2:15pm on August 18. By 4:15 I had exited the museum and the bike was gone. Another man also had his bike stolen from there as well at the same time. We asked the security guards if there was any video surveillance around the museum and he said not where our rack was. Apparently someone was able to clip two locked bikes in front of the museum in the middle of the day on a busy sidewalk within two hours.

At a Doctors appointment for 25-30 minutes, came outside after and my bike was gone. Lock that was used had been cut through the cable and left where it was locked up.

Around the Southalsted street festival, I was in an accident and was unconscious. Streets were around Clark/Diversey and surrounding areas. Bike and backpack was stolen.

The theft occurred between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. My guess would be right around 3:30 pm. Breaking this cable lock would have required a decent sized cutter.

Bike was locked in residential garage on the wall. Came in this morning and it was stolen and the car entered. This was an older model cannondale racing bike for triathlons but had not been ridden in years. Tires were flat etc. what the thief does not know is that I have a video security system so will show their picture shortly. Any help would be appreciated.

My apartment shares a laundry room in the basement with one other apartment. I carried my bike down the flight of stairs and it was in a corner next to the old bed and other landlord storage. My bike had the U-lock attached to the frame and I usually lock it to a metal piece of furniture. The bike was either stolen by my neighbors beneath me or a stranger that stuck into the building. My bike is usually locked inside, and I rode it the day before it was stolen. Either someone followed me inside to see where it was stored, or it was just a lucky time to find the bike.

I put the bike next to the entrance to a corner. I was going to jump in, grab a drink and come back out. As I was about to grab a drink, two Hispanic youths came up to the storefront. I did not pay them much attention and grabbed the drink. I then looked outside and the bike was gone. I ran down the street and passerbys informed me that the two youth made off with my bike.

I left the residence of 1460 W cortez at 12:00 am. I left it in the side door and up the stoors on the landing between the two apartments on the first floor.

I locked up the bike while at the Taylor Street festival. It was locked up on the southwest corner of Taylor/Racine (outside of Papa John's) and was missing later in the evening. I am 100% sure I locked up the bike with a U-Lock that had a combination.

Bike was stolen from my front porch at 1321 north artesian avenue. Man was seen taking my bike after jumping over my front gate. Duplex home. He is a young mid 20's Hispanic male. He has been seen wearing a white tshirt and red shoes. Dark skin Hispanic. The bike was a schwinn beach cruiser womans. Green and white with the word "Suzi" on middle bar stickered on it.

Bike was gone only in backyard for 4 hours

I needed to return a movie to the RedBox, which is located inside the Wal-Greens at the corner of Canal and Roosevelt. I put my bike right in front of the door to this business. I was allowed to see the video, which showed me inside the store for 70 seconds. The bike was taken at the 42 second mark.

i had come out of school to find that my bike had been stolen. i had brought an extra chain lock to secure it because this type of incident had been on going the entire week. Many others at my school had lost their bike. Due to lack of security measures taken nothing is to be done. was told to look for it myself. my school being a charter school we.re a little outdated on security tech. (uno garcia highschool)

Bike was locked to wooden deck railing, next to another bike. Only this bike was stolen, the railing was broken and the U-lock was taken with the bike.

**This bike was stolen at some unknown time between August 11 at 5pm and August 16 at 2pm. Bike and burgundy helmet were locked to each other and to a standard, black city bike rack next to the bus stop at Catalpa and Sheridan in Uptown. This is a sidewalk area directly in front of a parking lot. There is a residential high rise directly across the street. Noticed that on the same bike rack, a blue vintage cruiser was locked, which had a city bike tag on it for it to be picked up. That bike had been locked there for months. Mine was locked there for only 2-4 days. **Please note that the PICTURE is of a very similar model/make/year bike. I do not have a photo of my bike, as I only purchased it in June 2014.
