Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bicycle was locked with a cable and padlock to a freestanding bicycle stand. No damage to stand, and remains of lock are missing along with bike. Five other bicycles were stolen from the same garage at the same time, some locked and some not. Probably thieves had a truck to load all the bicycles onto. Theft happened in the middle of the day when people were at work, not sure how they gained access to the garage.

I set my bike down on the sidelines of s rec soccer game next to 2 officials watching the game from a small tent on the sideline. At halftime, as soon as one official stood up and took a couple steps onto the field, one of the lingering teenagers hanging by the field was gone on my ride. I chased on foot and confronted his friends, who lied to my face for about 20 minutes and left me standing outside some weird highrise in the end of a culdesac on W Eastwood Ave just West of Clarendon.

It was out there last night unlocked for a few hours and I realized it was gone. Whoever took it also took another beat up bike that has been sitting under my porch since I moved in, didn't belong to anyone in the building to my knowledge. That bike is a dark blue vintage Schwinn cruiser.

Bike was stolen out of a building garage off of a standing bike rack along with 4 other bikes some time in the middle of the night. Clearly someone broke into or snuck into garage when garage door was open.

Locked the bike to a bike rack located adjacent to the exelon parking lot entrance area and across from the Art Institute of Chicago. It is a somewhat hidden from public view which allowed the thief/thieves to remove the cable lock and steal my bike.

Bike was stolen in front of the court house on Sedgwick and Superior

The kryptonite U-lock that secured the bike frame to the street sign was cut in half. The lock was sitting in two pieces on the ground. This must have happened overnight, as the bike had been used the previous night. This occurred on the corner of North Hampden Court and West Deming Place. The Bike has been secured there several times in the past month, as the bike was just bought in July from Cycle Smithy on N Clark.

Bike was locked up around 1:15pm just across the street from Treasure Island in Old Town/Lincoln Park. I left it there for about four hours, and when I returned, it was gone. There was nothing suspicious remaining at the scene, just two different bikes locked up where mine used to be.

Many other bikes locked to fences in the area on Cambridge just west of 530 W Diversey. Thief cut fence and took bike, which was only locked through the frame (newer u-lock w/flat key).

Sign post was cut down and bike was slipped off with lock. (Newer U-lock with flat key).

I locked the bike up when I went in for work and when I came back out, the bike was gone. However, another bike was sitting at the locks - a black, rather small, beat-up bike, unlocked and resting against the bars. I don't know if it was related or not. I left the bike in front of an apartment building locked through both wheels and the frame to a metal fence. I have a cable and u-lock combo. The u-lock isn't big enough to fit through the fence so i lock the cable to the framewith the u-lock. So I used just my cable to lock it to the actual fence. I think the bike was stolen very early in the morning on sunday the cable was cut and half of it left at the scene. the other half is still probably hooked to the frame with the u- lock On Guard brand. The u-lock still is probably attached to the top part of the frame. I didnt find out it was stolen until 4 pm sunday.

Bike was on porch and was stolen sometime between Friday August 16th and Saturday August 17th.

I came out after the gym and saw only my front wheel and bike U lock attached to the bike rack. I must have only locked the front wheel to the rack (although I always lock body and wheel) but can't remember. So the bike will only have 1 wheel (the back wheel) attached.

My bike was locked next to my girlfriends bike on a bike rack in front of Jewel Osco on Southport ave in the lakeview neighborhood.

They obviously knew what they were doing, they only took my bike and another expensive bike even though there were 3 other unlocked bikes. It was in front of the Lincoln Park Zoo in broad daylight.

I work at 20S Wacker. I ride to work every day and lock it up on the Monroe side bike lock on the river walk between Rivers Restaurant and Monroe St. I rode in yesterday morning, 8/15, and went out for dinner and drinks after work with coworkers in-town from Singapore and Hong Kong. It was my co-workers last night in town and after a few drinks decided it would be best to leave it there as it was locked up under what I thought was securities watchful eye. I went for a run this afternoon and walked past the bike rack and it was gone, approximately 2:50 pm on 8/16. I believe it was taken sometime overnight, but can’t be certain as I am unsure if it was there after work yesterday. No cut lock left either. The bike is a few years older, but was originally just over $1500. As I recently started riding to work I’ve invested over $200 in repairs and upgrades within the last month or so.
