Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was U-locked through wheel in private apartment bike room to a hook that was in a cement wall. The hook was missing along with the lock and bike. I do not know when the bike was officially stolen.

Bike was locked inside the locked courtyard gate of my apt. It was stolen along with a petite women's cannondale.

Bike was locked up at midnight. Went out to get it at 6:00am and it was gone. It was inside the gated/locked courtyard of my apt building and locked to the gate. It was there with another bike (Large Men's Silver Trek). Both were stolen.

I left the bike around 10 PM on July 24th, locked to a public bike rack at Lasalle and Maple in downtown Chicago, Near North neighborhood. Two days later at 8:15, the bike and lock were both missing.

Fence was scaled, back door of building was kicked in. Bike was stolen in the middle of the day. The Kryptonite lock is mounted where the water bottle normally is. (see photo)

My bike was in the backyard of my boyfriends house and was taken between 8am and 2pm

Bike was parked in back of Potbellys in Bucktown (damen & north) and someone walked out back door with it.

I was working bike delivery for the Jimmy Johns on Clybourn. Bike was unlocked outside the front store window and was stolen while I was inside taking an order.

My work captured the incident on video surveillance. Two males approached my bike from the west side of Western Ave. One had a bike, the other was on foot. One man pulled his bike close to mine (perhaps to look like he was busy locking up his own bike), then the other cut the coil or the lock. They both rode off on bikes, heading south on N. Western Ave.

It was locked with my friend's bike which was an all black shwinn with flat handle bars. They were locked on a tree outside of a Tony's on Elston near Bell Plaine. The front and back tires were wrapped with a cable and looped into a kryptonite u-lock around the body.

Details unknown - I locked up the bike in front of a restaurant for dinner. When I came outside at the end of dinner, bike and lock were gone.

I left it on the hanging bike rack with over a hundred other bikes around 10pm, was going to lock it up with girlfriends bike in the morning. When I went back down at 8am, it was gone. The garage area is only open to residents with active FOB keys, and there is 24hr security desk not far from garage. No trash men were scheduled at the time. All staff know of the situation and will review tapes.

I locked my bike to the rack behind the Water Tower Place, in front of the MCA around 2:30pm. There was an overflow of bikes parked on the rack today, so much so that they were three deep parked along the fence and street sign poles, as well. I found a spot on the rack and parked my bike facing the plaza of the MCA. I have a view of this rack from my place of work and noticed it gone around 5:15-5:20.

Locked right by Chicago Brown Line (by the Starbucks) for approx. 1 hour. I'm guessing someone cut my lock and took the bike. No sign of it left there.

Bike was locked on WELLS street, almost in front of Wells On Wells (restaurant/bar). Bike cable was cut with wire-cutters and my bike was GONE. Police car/two officers were parked less than 200 meters away from where my bike was locked- said a lot of bikes have been stolen in this area.....really?!

Bike stolen between 6:00 pm - 8:20 am the following morning. The bike was locked in a locked apartment complex accessible only to residents of the building, as you need a key to get in. Bike was locked right outside our porch door on our deck.

The bike was locked to itself and left in my backyard against the house. I suspect that in the 90 minutes it was unattended, the thief/thieves jumped my backyard fence and carried the bike out. U-lock was stolen with the bike, so it was likely lifted/carried.

I rode my bike to the Addison brown line stop this morning before work. It was locked to the western-most bike rack on the south side of the street. I came back after work and my bike and lock were both missing. There were still many other bikes locked to the bike racks.

We got home to a garage we share with our neighbor (no it wasn't our neighbor who stole it all), and my bicycle (along with our Burley baby trailer, 2 helmets - one a little white Lazer baby helmet with flowers on it, and the other a grey adult's Lazer helmet - the lock and cable, and one bike tire pump) was gone - piece of steel in the wall (drilled into the brick wall of the garage) to which all was U-locked was cut, seemingly with hardcore bolt cutters or something. The picture below is of me on my bike from a few years ago, right after I swapped my drop bars for riser bars, and they don't have the grips on them yet (terrible picture, I know, but it gives one a rough idea).

I left the bike locked at 7am, came out at 4pm and it was gone.
