Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike was locked to a fence and steel crossbracing on the INSIDE of my secure parking lot at my condo building. The thieves cut a person-sized hole through the fence and steel crossbracing and took the bike, lock and all, sometime between Sunday PM and Monday AM on 8/6/2007.

I park my bike here every night, so I suspect they came specifically to get it. It was locked to a metal fence along the side of my house that was cut. It happened sometime between 1am and 7am. I'm so so so sad, and angry at not having locked it more securely! My little buddy will bring me no more summertime joy. We have some good memories, though. Thanks for your help.

I park on Berteau next to this building every day -- I work there, and can see the bike from my office window (but wasn't looking when this must have happened). I really loved that bike, any information would be much appreciated.

I locked my bike up on our porch, at the ground level to one of the support beams of the two-level deck around ten thirty sunday night. I went out this morning, monday, and it was gone. so was the combonation cable lock i locked it up with. The bike has a brand new Kryptonity U-lock still in it's holder to the bike post because i could not get it out of the holder. It is attached to the bike on the main post. Because i could not get the U-lock out of the holder, I used a cable lock to secure the bike to thepost by wrapping it through the tire and the bike itself. The bike also has 7 round red reflector stickers on it. 2 on the sealt, 3 on the part the seat is attached to [facing backwards to traffic] and two small ones on the beams by the back tire, also facing backwards.

The bike was locked on a fence in front of the apartment where i live. Hours later when I looked out the window and found that it was missing.

my bike was sitting at the bike rack in front of savor the flavor coffeehouse. there were maybe 4 or 5 other bikes surrounding it. i went into the cafe for 15-20 minutes and then he was gone.

My bike was stolen off my office buildings bike rack between 10 am and 5pm. There was no evidence of a struggle with the lock.

Bike was locked on bike rack on 700 North block of LaSalle Dr. Somewhere between the hours of 9 and 5pm the bike lock cable was cut and bike was stolen.

I parked and locked my bike overnight and the following morning I noticed it gone.

Went to work and locked bike as usual. Came out and bike was gone, with lock.

Someone broke into an unfinished unit in my development, and stole my bike & my husband's Gary Fisher Aquila. My bike was locked in a secure garage. It was taken from the garage and through the unit they broke into, and out the front door. Happened during the night. Other bikes were in the garage and not locked up at all, and they were not stolen.

My bike was stolen from my locked garage sometime during the day. When I arrived home the side door to the garage was open and the lock to the garage was not damaged.

Bike was stolen off my back porch over night. Only locked to itself.

Bike was mounted to the back of a car and left unattended for 5-10 minutes near the corner of North and Wood. Two bikes were stolen, the second one is a Yellow Specialized Stumpjumper with disc brakes.

we always leave our bikes in our back yard where we have 2 gates and a privacy fence. it wasn't locked up, so i guess it's my fault for being naive.

This bike, along with a green Schwinn road bike, a Kona mountain bike, and a old Sears women's cruiser were stolen from our fenced-in deck. The back yard had lots of bikes, two weren't taken, probably due to a lack of interest.

I left the bike on my second floor enclosed back porch(I live in a REAR apartment) unlocked while I used the restroom before going back out. I even left my back door open, which is like fifteen feet away from my bathroom. The porch is practically an extension of my house, and it's pretty private. It's enclosed and my yard is even gated. Of course leaving your bike unlocked is negligent and risky, but it felt natural. And I was gone for literally five minutes. I was naieve, and he either had good taste or was very desperate. Someone saw him riding it down North Ave. towards California the night of it's theft. He was youngish, twentysomething, and Hispanic.

Someone broke into my garage and stole my bike. My garage door was closed and the next morning I found the door open and my bike missing. Someone either jumped over my locked fence and opened the door to the garage,or somehow managed to open my actual garage door and steal my bike. What a bunch of worthless members of society. Get a job and buy your own bike!!! Thanks for reading....

My friend locked only the front wheel to the rack, so somebody used the quick open system and stole the bike without front wheel.
