I locked my bike to the rack in my apartment building's bike room with a black Master Lock at around 4 p.m. yesterday (i.e. Tuesday, October 8th 2024). I received an email from my landlord today (i.e. Wednesday, October 9th 2024) that some bikes were stolen from the bike room. I checked the bike room at around 12:10 p.m. and it was not there. The bike lock was left at the scene, locked. This suggests that someone was able to pick the lock.

When I went out in the morning of October 6th, the bike was no longer in front of the building. It had been locked to the fence with a cable combination lock. I had not used the bike in at least 4 days. I assume that someone came during the night after scouting the building and seeing the bike there, and with a cable cutter snapped the cable and stole the bike.
