Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was sitting inside a gate next to an apartment building and the thief climbed over the gate and took the bike out.

I locked up my bike as I was taking the Metra into work. I locked it in a different location than I have before. I used my u lock to lock my front tire and frame to the s shaped bike rack. I used an older cable lock to attach my back tire and frame to the bike rack. When I returned my bike and u lock were no where to be found. They left my cut cable lock.

Went into the movie theater and locked my bike to the rack outside the theater. When I returned from the movie the bike and the lock was gone.

The bike was taken in front of Starbucks on 1245 W Fullerton Ave some time between noon and 3 PM while I was working at the Starbucks. The bike and lock are both missing.

The bike was locked to a metal pole/street sign with a pink combination padlock (locked through front wheel and frame to the pole) at the corner of Cleveland and Menomonee between 9am-1pm on August 29th. Both the bike and the lock (a pink combination cable lock) were stolen.

My bike was last seen on Wednesday/Thursday evening locked up outside my apartment. I live along Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park where there are many store fronts. I had it locked up so a street parking sign and ensured the pole was in tights because I have heard horror stories about locking up to poles that are not really sturdy enough to be locking a bike to. I came out early saturday morning and my bike was missing, along with the lock.

I was dining with a friend at Summer House, on Halsted. Before I entered I parked and locked the bike onto a street sign on the sidewalk. I noticed a young girl taking a photo as I was locking the bike, but I was naive and non-intrusive enough not to ask why. When I finished dinner and walked to retrieve the bike, it was no longer there.

Wheels were stolen from bike in gangway when gate was left open. Only frame was locked to fence.

Unsure how long bike has been gone for - found a half a chain from a chain link lock outside where bike was stored on 7/28/15.

Bike was in hallway right next to my office door while I was in the office on the 2nd floor of Flanner Hall Chemistry Building, Loyola University Chicago at 1032 W. Sheridan Road. Male seen in Loyola security cameras took my unlocked bike from hallway,along with a student's computer from a laboratory, plus a number of other items around campus.

Bike was locked to a bike rack at the intersection of Randolph Street and Wabash Ave in the Loop for approximately 1.2 hours, during evening rush hour. Bike rack was located in front of the Loft store. Bike was taken along with U Lock and cable lock that was going through the frame and tires.

Bike stolen from garage. It was not locked up in the garage. It was there last night but gone today before 1pm.

Bike was stored on rafter hooks in an enclosed back porch. The thief was able to gain access to a window 8' off the ground, smashing it open, and taking 2 bikes in total.

Sometime between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., someone entered the two-car garage in the apartment building at 2318 N. Milwaukee Ave. and took the unlocked bike. The bike's lock, which was not being used, was tossed off the back of the bike. An empty can of PBR was also left at the scene. On 8/18/15, victim reported: "My bike, a KHS Flite 220, has been recovered! Someone brought it into the Bike Lane to get fixed up Sunday, Aug. 16. The Bike Lane folks looked up the serial on the registry, found out it was mine, and reclaimed it! Very happy. Thank you so much for all the good work you guys do. You really provide an awesome service."

Bike was hung from the rafters of our enclosed back porch, with another Caad, on a raised 1st floor. Thief was able to smash open a window 8' off the ground and enter the enclosed porch. Two bikes were taken overnight.
