Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stored in the locked basement of 2 flat. Someone broke a window, climbed in and stole the bike (taking it out through the back door).

Locked a Sage Green 1999 Raleigh SC-30 with an integrated key lock to the bike rack at the Jefferson Park CTA Terminal on Tuesday June 9 at 7 a.m. Upon arrival 5 hours later than usual (10 p.m.), bike was gone and integrated cable/lock was lying on the ground. Looked like a previous attempt had been made on the cable and whoever it was came back with something stronger to cut the cable. No sense reporting to CTA, they don't care or take responsibility for stolen bikes. Didn't file a police report because we don't have the serial # and all previous stolen bikes we reported to police were never recovered. The pisser is this SC-30 was in excellent condition (and just put in a new inner tube, which will be how I can identify the bike) but its resale value is only $75.

The bike was locked starting past midnight at the bike rack at the sidewalk directly in front of Ogilvie Metra Train Station along Madison Avenue. It cannot be taken by the owner with him in riding the train due to the high volume of passengers up to the last train trips, so the owner had to leave the bike locked in the rack in the sidewalk, rode the train, and his plan was to take it later when it can be accommodated in the train.

Back door may have been left open, bike was taking from second floor enclosed porch.

Bike was taken from a garage. Bike has distinguishing characteristics of one blue and one red handlebar, along with one blue tire.

Bike was on my back porch inside my building. Lock is on frame but bike was not locked to any object or itself. Lock may still be on bike. Its a gray cord combination type lock. Thief left a bike here but its not nearly as good as the bike stolen. I woke up and my back door and yard gate were open. I noticed my bike was gone also. I filed police report immediately. I do not have serial number. It was a black k-2 mountain bike.

I locked the bike under the Damen Brown Line stop last night to the bike racks on the west side of the street. I spoke with the CTA employee on duty at the time I noticed the theft, and she indicated that she'd seen my bike (she was able to describe the milk crate and helmet attached to it) this morning at 9:00 am. She mentioned noticing 2 teenagers hanging around under the Brown Line in a suspicious manner but she did not actually see them steal the bike. When I came to pick up my bike at 10:45 am, the bike and lock were gone.

Since both locks are missing along with the bike, I can only assume that they were cut. There was no viable trace evidence left behind. Neither of the businesses in the area have security cameras on the outside. There is building construction occurring in the vicinity of where my bicycle was stolen. Neither any business in the area recognized if they had seen my bike, or anyone near it.

While I was home on a Sunday morning, a neighbor witnessed a person described to be a black man in his 30s or 40s riding a bike out of my driveway and into the alley. The man climbed up onto my back deck (not easy to do), threw my bike to the ground, ran down my enclosed stairway, unlocked two doors (4 locks) and proceeded with stealing my bike.

My awesome light blue Electra Townie was stolen out of my garage in Bucktown (near Western/Fullerton). It was last used on Sunday on the new 606 Trail and we discovered it missing from our garage Wednesday evening. I've only used it a handful of times over the past year, so it is in like-new condition. There aren't any other distringuishing characteristics, unfortunately.

Bike was stolen from out front the Broadway Armory, bike was locked to bike Rack with Cable Lock.

My Bike was locked to a bike rack outside of 225 Michigan and Water street. It was locked with a heavy duty cable looped through witha heavy duty U Lock. The cable was cut sometime between 1:30-6 as i saw the bike while at lunch.

I left it in front of my school on the bike racks, and when I got out of school it was just gone

Had bike in my back stairwell, saw it at 1am on the 9th when entering, when entering next at 7pm same day, it was missing. Door may have been unlocked as contractors are doing deck work on the condo building, but they were instructed to keep door locked at all times. They do not recall if they saw it or not.
