Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Owner was assaulted by thief while unlocking bike. Owner was pushed/knocked to the ground by thief, then thief grabbed bike and rode away, heading south on Clark before turning down an alley.

The bike was locked to a bike rack with many other bikes for about three hours. It was gone when I went to leave and the lock was not in sight. I assume they cut the cable, which I'm told can be done easily with the right tool. I am guessing it was someone/a group of people trying to steal a bunch of bikes because we walked down the beach path and at the next bike rack was one bike wheel locked to the rack and the bike was gone. I am only guessing that the thieves stole the bike and left the wheel, since it was still locked to the rack with a heavy u-lock and the bike owner did not lock the frame.

I was sleeping in the space that I sleep. It was stolen from inside my house. With my burnt orange/yellow Osprey transit messenger bag.

Random incident, it was a busy sunny day in the afternoon. The bike was locked to a bike post for no more than three hours outside of my work. The person must have just taken it at randon because this corner has at least 6 bikes locked at it at all times and my bike is for cycling, so the drop down handle bars can be difficult to ride if not formilliar with them. I came out of work at 3pm and both the bike and lock were gone.

Bicycle was under the porch/stairs in the back yard the evening of the 25th(Saturday night) During a barbecue. The next day around noon I went back to get the bike and found only the ULock on the ground. The lock had been sitting on the bicycle which had been left unlocked overnight.

Bike stolen from garage between 3p-7p. Cable cut and left behind.

The bike was unlocked inside my apartment building hallway. Having faith in neighbors I never lock the bike up. The bike went missing sometime between 5-7pm on Friday July 24th.

A non-resident must have learned of the bike's location, set the door up to be opened without a key, and come through two otherwise locked doors to steal the bike.

Rainy afternoon , i parked bike on the garage gate along with a couple of other bikes. I went across the street to have a drink and eat the food that i ordered from harolds chicken when. I was done dining abt an hr and a half later i went outside ans noticed my bike was the only one that was gone.

Bike was stolen the night of 7/21 - morning of 7/22 from the courtyard in front of my apartment where it was locked to a light pole with a combination cable lock. The cable was cut and left behind

I woke up when my room mate came in to tell me that my bike was no longer locked up in front but that part of the u-lock was on the ground with blood on it. I immediately called to file a police report. By the time I got down to pick up the broken piece of u-lock it was also gone. I am devastated. I loved that bike so much.

Looks like someone walked up to it, clipped the chain and took off in broad daylight on a busy traffic and pedestrian street. Thanks everyone!

My bike was u-locked through front wheel and frame to one of those new "pay at box" poles. There was also a combo lock from the seatpost to the back wheel. being a new pole the must have easily undone the bolt at the base and slid the pole off my lock. the pole was sitting loose in the base when i got there and the washer that was jammed between the pole and base was sitting on the sidewalk.

Son left Bicycle under freinds back porch and went to the show. When son returned his bocycle was missing.

biked to work at the train station locked my bike, double checked lock went to work, came to get bike at the end of the day to find entire bike, baby carrier and lock gone.

I left my bike locked up to go to work and someone stole it from right in front of the gym.

Found cut cable lock hung from chainlink fence when i returned to spot where bike was locked, across from main entrance to Pitchfork Festival in Union Park.

An African-American male in shorts, a white tshirt, glasses, and a backpack approached from the west side of the office building, came around front, and then lingered around the bike racks on the east side of the building. Pretending to have a key, he fumbled around & then proceed to (I assume) cut the lock from the bike. He then rode off on the bike. (This is from video surveillance)

Bicycle was stolen from a locked location on a second floor porch, on a fenced and locked property.

Bike was locked to a bike rack outside of the UIC parking garage at the intersection of Halsted and Taylor. It was locked through the frame and the front wheel. It is a well lit and well patrolled area both by UIC police and Chicago police. Thus, I believe it was stolen late at night to avoid anyone seeing. Both the lock and the bike are missing.
