Locked it up around 11 p.m. to a chain link fence post separating my friend's backyard from his neighbor's. I'd locked it there on Monday without any problems, and my friend had also locked his own bike there in the same manner hundreds of times without an issue. Around 7 a.m. we heard what sounded like mechanical sawing but since he lives right by the Brown Line I thought it was just construction. Can't say for sure if that was someone sawing my lock, though, because I didn't go look.

She is built like a tank, rides like a dream and is sadly missed.

The bolt from the street sign was unscrewed late at night on July 14th into the 15th. The bike was stolen with the lock connected to it. At the same time adn presumably the same people also stole my girlfriends 1970's Schwinn. It is a woman's frame road bike with red handlebar tape.

I locked my bike up in the morning to take the train to work. I'm honestly not sure what happened; my bike was far from the best one in the lot. Someone must have decided to take mine becuase they could cut through my lock (the bike shop that tuned it up said that was possible). I am very sad that the FIRST day i decided to commute with my bike someone took it from me. I am angry.I will pay a reward for its' return.

The tandem bike was the only item stolen from our residential garage, accessible only through the alley, behind a locked gate. The other bike was not touched, nor were any of the items of value in the yard. Bike must have been walked away or put in a vehicle, as it had a flat front tire (or the rider definitely damaged the rims). Garage was not locked, just the 6' iron gate leading to the garage was.

so yes, I'm an idiot, simply an idiot. i know this, and I accept it, and to be honest I probably deserve my damn bike getting stolen. I locked my bike but one side of the U-lock hadn't completely gone in and I didn't realize it. Though the whole situation is a little hazy I wasn't completely 100% aware of my surroundings at the time. There were tons of bikes there(there was a party upstairs), and I made the mistake of not being careful due to my naive trust in mankind. This bike meant a lot to me, so please. I locked my bike up to a newer street sign (the ones telling people to pay at the parking box) since all the parking meters had been removed and the bike rack was full. It appears that someone unbolted the sign post and lifted it out of the housing and slid my lock out from underneath. There was no evidence of tampering with my lock, but the street sign's bolt was gone (it was there when I locked it up).
