Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was locked with two u-locks, one attaching the front wheel to the bike rack and one attaching the rear wheel to the frame. The bike was taken from the bike racks at the Washington Street exit of Ogilvie transportation center. The bike is pretty dirty on the bottom, the handlebar tape is starting to fall off and is not aligned, the handle bar itself is a little crooked. The picture in this report is not the bike I own but is the same exact model as mine.

I locked my bicycle with 2 locks. It was not big U-locks. One was a fairly sturdy combination cable lock, the other was a fairly cheap cable lock with a non-integrated key lock. I had locked both the front wheel with the frame at the bike rack. And the back wheel with the frame and the seat at the bike rack. I went to work in the morning and came back to an empty bike rack. It was a really busy day with plenty of people all around the bike rack. This did not prevent someone from stealing it with the locks.

The theifs left multiple bikes locked up at the location, and stole the newer model bike. all the bikes in the area have the same cable lock.

Bike was behind a locked, closed in fence approximately 8/9 feet tall. It was leaning against the porch against another bike. Thief moved the other bike to steal my bike and left the other bike there.

Someone cut the lock and stole the bike, lock, cable and all.

My u-Lock was sticking so I locked it with 2 cable locks to the fence on the walkway to my apartment for less than one hour. When I came outside it had been stolen. I have reason to believe that it has been tried to be sold to pawn shops in the area.

Bike was locked up outside a bar for less than an hour -- came out and it was gone, along with the lock.

It looks like they unbolted the sign from the street and lifted my bike. Bike was locked with a newer u-lock w/flat key.

Bike was locked to boyfriends mountain bike in bike room of apartment. Both bikes gone and no lock left behind.

Had mine and girlfriends bike locked to each other in the bike storage room in our apartment. Went missing together and no lock left behind.

Left my bike locked on the rack outside the ravenswood metra stop all day and evening. It looks like a hot spot, a lot of tires missing and locks left behind. When I came to pick it up at 10 pm, it was gone. dumb luck--first time I'd parked it here and worried about it all evening.

The lock was not unlocked or broken. It is a new kryptonite u-shape lock with a flat key. It was mangled a little, but totally in tact. They must have sawed through the bike to get it off. There were some scratches on the cross bar of the lock that looks like something was scraping it repetitively (like it was in the way of sawing). My helmet was locked up with the bike and it too was mangled some. It looks like some one tried to crush it. Sorry for the bad picture. It's the only one I have.

The cable lock was cut and they took off with the bike and the lock at some point during the work day (between 9am and 3:30 pm) on Monday July 18th. The bike frame is all pink and it says Diamondback on the side of the frame.

I rode to the beach between North Avenue and Fullerton Beach. At about 4:30 pm I locked my bike to the rack along with my friends bike. The lock was a cable with a pad lock and was locked between both our tires and to the rack. At about 6:00 pm I walked to the rack and only saw my friends bike which was pushed onto other people's bikes and there was the cut cable on the ground.

Someone must have cut the two u locks on my bike and stolen it. It was locked by Lincoln park zoo on Fullerton ave during the middle of the afternoon.

bike was in garage while we were going in and out of garage unloading car for ~ 45 minutes. Overhead door was open. Photo is not of my actual bike, but frame is exactly the same.

I locked my bike on the rails at north avenue beach just outside bike and roll. there were at least 100 other bikes along the same railing. I went jet skiing, came back in 2 hours, and my bike was gone. my bike was also locked with my friends bike. both bikes and the lock were gone. her bike is also a road bike. it is a white blue and red trek.

Left the bike out overnight, check on it at about 10/11 am the next morning, lock was cut and left behind, no trace of the bike.

My car was parked on North Ave. I had my bike in the back seat. At some point between 2-10am, my car was broken into and the bike was stolen.
