Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was parked on the corner of wolcot and North in front of Rapid Transit. The bike was parked at a U shaped bike rack. The bike was locked with a cable chain that was stolen with the bike (I know i use a U-lock but my Girlfriend's more expensive Swobo Sanchez was next to it and using my mini-u lock). The bike was stolen roughly around 2:30 am (friday night the 7th but technically the early morning of Saturday the 8th) two hours after locking it up (according to the homeless guy that said he saw it being stolen). The homeless guy also said that the bike was stolen by a guy on a bike and took off down North avenue heading east. Please let me know if anyone has any information on my fixed motobecane mirage. I loved that bike, it was my first fix and would greatly appreciate its return.

I was inside the movie theater. I had locked my bike up outside. When I came out after the movie it was gone. I'm assuming somebody cut the bike lock.

Put my bike in my garage. Garage was entered and bike was stolen.

Parked in front of a friend's apartment. Walked to restaurant for dinner. A few hours later when we returned the bike was gone.

Someone snipped the lock, left it at the scene, and took off with the bike. Shrub shears have been located in the vacant lot beside the building, which are likely to have been used in the theft.

locked my bike up to a metal fence behind my house cause my landlord's daughter's SUV was blocking the backgate. came back approx. an hour and half later to find the top railing of the fence had been popped off the supports and my bike & U-lock had been lifted off.

My bike was folded and collapsed and locked to a bike rack at 8am. At 4pm the bike was no longer attached to the rack and I noticed significant damage to the area where the bike rack was attached to the sidewalk as well as loose bolts. It may have been possible to move the chain under the spot where the rack was grounded due to the loose bolts and broken foundation. I loves my bike, please find it, and may a swift and harsh justice be done to whoever stole it.

I was at work, and when I came out to ride home my bike was gone. The lock (A U-lock) was on the bike rack locked and unharmed. Just no bike there. It was locked to the bike rack. This is a high density area right off of Michigan ave in front of busy office buildings. There are maybe 50 bikes on this rack in one day.

Bike was stolen somewhere during the night. The bike was locked with two other (kids) bikes which they left there.

Bike was locked to bike rack under stairs to CTA Brown Line stop at Chicago Ave.

I locked the bike up. In the early daytime, sometime around 8am, the chain with which the bike was locked was cut and the bicycle was removed. The chain was found lying on the ground soon thereafter.

Hid bike in Dumpster area behind Egg Harbor Restaurant in Hinsdale. Went inside for breakfast. Came out, and the bike was gone. It's quite likely that someone who had regular access to the dumpsters found the bike. Or it could be that someone "got lucky" and saw me sneak into the fenced-off dumpster area and stole the bike when I was no longer in sight.

The lock was cut in a relatively busy area, just west off Taylor and Loomis, noon time. Brazen.

Bike was locked to a bike rack outside Caribou coffee on School St. Chicago, IL. I went inside of X-sport to workout for 45 minutes and I came out and my bike was stolen.

Left it there went to work, rainning when I left and when I got out the next day it was gone!!

Middle of day

Bike was stolen from my garage. They also stole my garage door opener from inside my car.

Bike was U-locked to itself (frame to wheel) inside private garage that opens to alleyway. I don't know if garage door was left open or door to garage itself was left open or not. Other residents in the building are usually very good about keeping both closed at all times. No sign of forced entry. Bike was taken from garage sometime between 1030pm on July 31st and 6pm on August 1st.

I and a friend went to the Shrine night club on Friday July 31st at around 11:30pm unfortunately my friend had forgotten her lock so we attempted to lock both front wheels and frames to a street sign this proved to be to much for the my U-lock and so I attempted to just lock my front wheel and her bike after on the west side of the street and went across to the east side and mentioned to the bouncers of the club to "keep an eye on the bikes" when we return a couple ours later there was an SUV obstructing the view from the entrance of the club (and the bouncers) and the bike had been stolen 2 of the remaining wheels spokes had been cut and my friends bike had its front wheel removed but still locked to the street sign

Bike was stored inside the apartment building bike room, accessible only to those with building keys, along with a mountain bike. The front and rear wheels of each bike are locked to the frames with u-locks and then the frames are locked to a metal post with a heavy duty cable. The cable (1/2 inch, braided steel) around the metal post was cut, but only the road bike was stolen. The mountain bike was left in the room with both wheels still locked to the frame, but not the post. The bikes are somewhat hidden and not readily visible for people just walking into the room. Tenants in three different apartment buildings have keys to this room and as I discovered today, New York Deli on the corner of Clark and Oakdale also has access to this room. The bike was discovered missing on Aug. 1 at around 11:15AM, the last time I might have seen it was around monday or tuesday evening on the last week of July. I usually use this bike to commute to work, except that last week of July. As soon as I discovered the bike missing, I called my building manager and filed a police report. I also made flyers and posted them in all the buildings that have access to the room and given copies to nearby bike shops. I've talked to a few neighbors and given them copies of the flyers.
