Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I live in Cincinnati but work in Chicago (at 225 N. Michigan Ave, 16th floor) usually four days per week. Since I do not own or rent any property here, I lock my bike on high-traffic sidewalks. On Thursday, June 28 at 3 p.m. CDT, I locked my bicycle in a rack at 225 N. Mich. Ave. When I returned to my office at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, July 5, the bike was missing. (Since the theft could have occurred any time between 6/28 and 7/5, I am listing the time of discovery as the incident time.)

Someone stole both of our bikes. they were locked to each other and locked to the rack with the same cable and padlock. no police report filed because we are leaving in the morning to go back to Detroit...where coincedentally we have never had a problem with our bikes.

I was out of town Thursday morning to Saturday night. I believe the bike was stolen during this time. The bike is parked inside a high fence, facing an alley. I believe the fence gate was unlocked, or the lock was picked, and the burglar gained access to the back porch area.

I locked my bike up to the rack along the street. Went into Park Grill for about 15 minutes. Came out and it was gone.

I walked my bike from Stanton park to Sully's bar. I was walking with friends from my softball team. I locked it to a bike rack outside REI since their are no bike racks at Sully's. Someone may have watched me walking the bike and then later cut the lock.

I locked my bike at midnight and woke up at 5 a.m. to find my bike and lock missing. No debris left over.

The thief they have on footage was wearing red and white gym shoes, black tee shirt, cap and has a tattoo on his left calf. Per the video, he stole the bike between 12 and 12:15pm. Shows he was on a dark color bike- black maybe blue canvassing then came back on foot and stole our daughters bike. Late teens early 20's, Hispanic.

Someone broke into our garage and stole my Jamis. It was stacked on top of my boyfriends Gary Fischer, they didn't steal that one.

My handlebars, headset, and the entire brake system were stolen. A lot of incidents have occurred near the building since a new tenant has moved in

Around the same time a group of neighbors across the alley were shooting mortars and other fireworks, someone kicked in my garage service door which had been deadbolted and made off with four bikes including this one.

I caught the thief of the other bike, but she claimed it was already unlocked. It's a pity, I'm visiting from Germany, bought a new bike and then went to the zoo with my girlfriend, only for 30 minutes. When we came back I could see a woman riding away with my girlfriends bike, but I caught her. Mine is still missing :(

Bike was hanging on a rack in our garage. Garage door must have malfunctioned or someone was able to open it because the bike was gone within a couple of hours period.

Bike along with lock was stolen. The bike is mostly black with white and gold writing on the frame. The sit is black and white with streaks of blue ribbed off from my jeans. The lock was orange and gray.

I'm not sure what happened. I was at work and the last time I saw the bike was a little after 9 am. I left work at 12:50 pm.

Taken out of garage

The bike was left locked with U-Lock and cable outside of my apartment building on Milwaukee Avenue. I notice it was completely gone on July 4th at around 11:00 pm. They must have taken the lock as well and there were not metal filings on the ground.

NOTE: the photo included is not my exact bike, it is one I found on google images. I've provided a detailed description above of some very distinguishing features. I was working, walking a dog with a friend. We'd both locked our bikes to the bike rack. When we were done, I took the dog back inside and my friend unlocked her bike and left. When I emerged from the building approximately ten minutes later, my bike was gone. My u lock was left on the ground, the two pieces disconnected, but had not taken any noticeable damage. It still appears to be working. Both my friend and I distinctly remember me tugging on my lock to check it before leaving my bike unattended. She does not recall seeing anything amiss with my bike or lock. I'm a little baffled by it all. I really loved that bike, too. We'd been through a lot in a short time.

Garage door was left open for about an hour. I have camera footage of the theft however it is 5MB so I am unable to upload. He was a black Male about ~6 ft ~200 lb. wearing dark shorts, white shoes, a blue/red lettering "Cubs; Ramirez 16" t-shirt, and a tan hat. The thief seems to have jumped over the side railings or avoided the camera as he came down the driveway then entered the garage and all the camera catches is his back walking away from the garage. The video clearly shows this was on Monday June 18th at 1:51PM.
