Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The theft happened between 12:45pm on the 19th when I locked my bike, and I finished my ER shift at 1:30 am on the 20th when I noticed my bike was stolen. The thief/thieves cut other cables at the Lurie Children's Hospital designated employee bike rack. It is a two tier rack system with individual heavy duty cables to attach your locks too. It's just off the sidewalk between Lurie's and Northwestern hospitals on St Clair between Superior and Huron. I noticed other locks/cables had been cut as well, but they took my locks with the bike. I had a U lock attached to the rack between the rear tire and frame and a cable lock between the front tire and frame. I didn't have an updated picture of the bike, but the picture I pulled off the internet is almost identical.

Bike was stolen from garage over the night. Lock was cut and left at the scene.

My bike was stolen from the equipment pit at the Afterglow cyclocross race at Douglas Park. It would have happened between 11:20-12:15 because that is how long it was in the pit. I noticed it was missing on the last lap of my race, but it was probably jacked while they were staging our race.

Leaving work at Rush, heading towards where I had locked the bike (bike rack located at the south end of the Rush Professional Building, next to the valet parking lot) only to find the bike missing and the u-lock cut through with an angle grinder.

This occurred in a condo garage with my car parked in front of my bike rack and additional bikes; and my car sits between two large SUVs that makes it more difficult to get my bike in and out. There is a gate to enter the garage area and then a standard garage door to enter the parking area. Bike was locked and secure when I entered the garage to park my car on Dec. 19 at 1:30am; when I returned to the garage on Dec. 19 at 12pm, the bike was no longer there and the lock was cut and placed to look like nothing had been tampered with. My building's maintenance guy is just as perplexed as I am about how the theft occurred in what is supposed to be a secure space.

My bike was on the bike rack in the basement of my condo building. Someone came in through the back door, went down one flight of steps, and took my bike.

Bike was taken from locked garage sometime between Tuesday, December 12, after 2 pm and Friday, December 15, at 3 pm. Most likely sometime on Thursday midday.

Bike was hanging on bike hook from ceiling in locked storage locker. Locker was located in storage room 1st floor of condo building. Door was cut, lock was intact.

Bike taken as garage door was left open and attended for short time.

Bike was locked on the side of Student Center West by the gym on the UIC West Campus (between Wolcott and Damen).

I went away for a couple of weeks to return and find my bike missing. The lock was completely intact and left on the fence, still locked. I am unsure how this could have occurred. The building said they did not remove any bikes. Perhaps it was taken apart.

My red 'Sunday' BMX bike was stolen from my gated and fenced backyard this morning. It was not visible from the street or alley.

Bike was stolen along with Yakima rack in basement of apartment.

My bike was parked on the east side of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower at 300 E. Randolph St., a very popular, high-traffic, and well-lit area. It was locked through the frame and I also had "Abus Nutfix Quick Release" locks on my wheels.

The lock is a U-lock with a cable. I must have not locked the U-lock to the frame, but just to the bike rack, and the cable was wrapped around the frame and cut. I locked my bike to a bike rack inside the 35th-Sox Red Line station after you tap in with your Ventra card. I believe there are cameras there. I left my bike there around 7 am for work and returned around 6 pm to find the cable cut with my U-lock uncut with my helmet still locked in it.

Bike was taken from storage room at apartment complex. Only residents have the key to access the bike room. Stolen between late October and Decemer 3rd 2017.

Bike was locked to a bike rack in front of my office building and a restaurant at the ground level near Wacker and Madison. I came out around 5pm and found the rack empty. As I stood there holding my helmet, a woman came up and asked if my bike was locked up there. She said they were having drinks at the restaurant and saw someone in a hoodie come up and start sawing at the lock. Sparks were flying apparently. Someone from their group called the police, but they didn't show up in time or at all. Two people approached the thief and asked if he was stealing the bike, he said yes and carried on. She said it took a few minutes and then he climbed on and rode north on Wacker. No one from the restaurant knew anything.
