Incident Description: 
Bike was parked and locked outside the doors of the Granville CTA station at about 5:30PM Saturday, September 26th. I took the train to work downtown. Got off train at 4:20AM, Sunday September 27th and the bike was gone. Bike that was parked across from me was also gone. CTA security guard told me the bike was definitely there about 3:30am when he walked outside for a smoke. He believes it was taken when he had to go to the platform to do a security check. He also believes it could have been a CTA bike sweep for abandoned bikes. Waiting to hear from CTA to see if that is true or not.

This is a single forked front-wheel design from 2012. There was a white gel strap flasher light on the front, and a red gel strap flashing brake light on the back. It had disc brakes that would give an audible squeak when coming to a sudden stop. Occasionally the front tire will get a repetitive squeak when normally riding or turning the wheel. There is no kick stand. The photo supplied is a stock photo of the bike, I sadly cannot find any photos of me on it at this time but it was like new other than the squeaking.

The bike was in my locked garage and a thief kicked open the locked door, defeating the deadbolt. The alarm went off and woke me up. The thief opened the garage door and and apparently road off on the bike. I can't tell if I was just an unlucky victim or if this was a planned and timed burglary. Nothing else was stolen, including my girlfriend's cruising bike which was parked next to it.

Someone had to come have in my garage area when another resident was driving out. This is a nice bike and they likely saw me use it daily. Vagrants hang in the park near me from one of a few areas in the West Loop that attracts them. I wen on an errand for about an hour, the bike was gone when I was back. My girlfriends unlocked bike was not stolen, which was leaning on me. I tend to think it was a singular person acting for this reason... they took what they could ride away fast and moved on. *** PLEASE NOTE, the image attached I found online.
