My bike was stolen from a fence post that was in front of the door of my apartment. The robber unscrewed the nail that attached the post to the fence frame and slipped my bike from it. My bike was locked to the fence post with a yellow Kryptonite Faghettaboutit U-Lock. It should still be attached to my bike frame. My bike has a speedometer on the left bike handle and there were two bike lights attached to the bike as well at the time when I lost it (one to the right bike handle and underneath the bike seat).

I locked my bike to a street sign with a Kryptonite combination U-Lock around 3:30pm. It was locked on the southwest side of Milwaukee ave, just north of the Logan Square outside the Logan Square 'L' station. When I returned to my bike around 9:30, it was gone, along with the U-lock. I distinctly remember turning the combination so that it was locked.

The Kona was a brushed finish ti mountain bike converted to a commuter with a black Salsa Cromoto fork, an American Classic ti seatpost, Titec Saddle, black SKS fenders, SRAM 8 speed Grip Shift, Titec straight bars, Maxxis tubless tires (with tubes), Sugino cranks and Time ATAC pedals - the drive side with a broken retention spring. It was stolen from their Wicker Park garage between 4:30 PM and 8:00 PM Monday evening, Nov. 12th. The thief(ves) broke into the garage by prying the service door through the backyard and escaped directly to the alley - the neighbors found the garage door propped open. The Kona's serial number is B20599-64. A police report has been issued (HV559438). and the bike listed on the stolen bike registry. Ulock didn't fit around the bike rack due to presence of other bikes so, cable through fram + both wheels + ulock - only the cable secured the whole mess to the bike rack. Michigan Ave, ten feet off the sidewalk where thousands of tourists are walking, East side of the street, just North of the Park Grill. Went inside with a co-worker for a couple cocktails, returned to find the bike lock had been cut with a bolt cutter.

My Q5 had a ton of miles on it but had been kept up very well. -Frame - lots of nicks and scratches (from the lock) especially on the front of the top tube near the stem. -Aftermarket 3-pin PitLock style bolts on Seatpost, front wheel and rear wheel. -Handlebars - I kept the stock Q3 or Q4 bars but cut nearly and inch of either end, so the bars are noticably narrower than stock. -Aftermarket Rear rack was on this bike when stolen, it was a planet bike model but the log was removed. Ihe slots were pretty worn from carrying my lock. -Seat - When stolen, this bike had a black San Marco saddle, I think it was the Ponza model, and the seat post was backwards in the seat tube (so the seat leaned forward instead of back) -Cassette and chain - Brand new silver SRAM cassette and chain installed October 15th, 2012. -Stock Right Crankarm and Chainring were replaced by goldish/greenish Shimano Components -Gears - left gear shifter plastic housing was cracked. -Brakes - new jagwire pads installed November 1, 2012. -Rear Rim was pretty scored by a bad brake pad

Incident happened on Lehmann st just south of Diversey Pkwy (pretty close to the Clark/Diversey/Broadway intersection). I was babysitting and had just gone outside and the bike was fine, walked down the street to the corner when these two guys ran around. They were kind of loud and yelling, and I was immediately suspicious. I'm pretty protective over my new bike (I LOVED it) and so I kept an eye on them until they went down another street... One was black and on a bike, and the one behind him was a white guy. I noticed them checking out bikes a little, so thats why I was suspicious. Anyways, when they were gone I rounded the corner and went to grab a coffee and came back maybe 20 minutes later and it was gone. So I am pretty sure it was those guys who took it. SO wish I stayed longer or said something or anything, really!
