Condition of Bicycle / Distinguishing Features:
Brakes were loose (bike needed some work had been sitting for some time) chrome fork on front was rusted, label on fork had been removed (sticky parts remained) had a lock with a mount for the lock under the seat. Was locked up to a pole but could have been lifted over the top of the pole as nothing capped it (was just a dumb move, left it there for two days waiting to get a storage area in my new apartment, was just behind the building).

Lock Information

How was the lock defeated?:
Lock is missing, along with the bike.
Lock Type:
Cable w/ Integrated Key Lock
What was the bike locked to?:

Locked through front wheel and frame to object.
How long was the bike locked in this location?:
2 days
Incident Description:
It was locked to one of the poles that's used to stop cars from going through an area behind my building. I had wrapped the lock through the frame of the bike and through the front wheel and around the pole but everything could have been lifted off and thrown onto a truck pretty easily as the pole was only about 3 feet tall, I was hoping since it was behind the building tucked in from the alley that it wouldn't attract too much attention but apparently someone cruising through the alley saw it and decided to take it.

I changed the handlebars to red bullhorns - no tape, just painted metal (I believe they were aluminum, but I'm not sure). Also, the pedals are red (same color as the handlebars) and chrome. Other than that, all of the specs on the bike were original: white chain and rims, Shimano cranks & cog, chrome headset, white Specialiazed saddle.

Newer U-Lock w/ Flat Key
What was the bike locked to?:

I locked it up around 10pm. When I came back around 8am the next morning it was gone.
Incident Description:
I locked the bike in front of Andersonville Wine & Liquors, because it is the closest place to my house to lock that isn't a tree. I liked the bike with a Kryptonite U-Lock through the front wheel & the frame. I locked it to a no parking sign around 10pm, and I had locked it here several times previously. When I came back around 8am the next morning, the bike had vanished. There was no obvious damage to the pole, and no sign of my lock or bike.

I love this bike, but I'm even more freaked out by the fact that someone was on our back porch while we were home we and didn't even know it. They were very sneaky and quiet about it because our dog generally bounds towards any noise he hears. Since my bike isn't rideable they either walked it or had a car so I'm not sure how far they got, but I would love to see this bike returned to me. Thank you so much!

Locked the bike to a street sign in a pinch because there were a lot of other bikes around. Many people were out on the street. A small kryptonite U-lock was around the front part of the frame; I don't believe it was broken, just slid off. It's a very distinctive bike (more pictures are here on the Lugs bike shop blog. http://lugschicago.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html). I feel terrible for not locking it more carefully. I really love this bike.
