Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Stolen from my garage.

My bike and a Trek 7100 were locked together to a street sign across the street from, and in front of 1 West Superior. My Cannondale was stolen - his Trek was left behind. The cable was cut and left still threaded through the Trek.

Locked it to a street sign in the south end of the loop in in the morning with a newer u-lock w/flat key, and when I came back in the evening it was gone. Presumably the thief unscrewed the street sign and removed the bike.

The Bike was in the bike room of this building, which is a locked secure building. Last seen Tuesday, May 24. The bike must have been taken between Tuesday afternoon and Friday.

My bike had been, I thought, safely locked within this parking/garbage area of the building, which should only be accessed from the interior of the building. If the lock on the gate is fiddled with, it will open. Many other bikes locked (and unlocked) in this area! Chain must have been cut, but is missing with bike.

Bike was locked to a street sign with a newer u-lock with a flat key. Bricks on sidewalk were dug up, looks like sign was pulled out of the ground, they took the bike off the sign and put the sign back in the ground.

Bike was moved from garage to common area within building through garage door and two locked inner doors - two bikes stolen at this time and old black/green Huffy was left in front of building (assuming what thief rode in on) - They left our garage door and inner door open and came back for the Huffy in the middle of the following night.

our apartment building has had frequent (more than 3 incidents in 5 months) security issues lately and took the time to crack the u-lock from my bike and leave no trace. they came in through a hole in the fence where our landlord inlaid the mailboxes, into the area between the front house and the coach-house which we live in. from there, they cracked the lock on our bikes and walked out. based on previous break-in attempts, it is most likely the same person or people watching us for new goodies.

our apartment building has had frequent (more than 3 incidents in 5 months) security issues lately and took the time to crack the kryptonite u-lock from my bike and leave no trace, along with a second bike of ours: an orange/brown female frame swhinn suburban with rusted rear brake and gear shift cables. they came in through a hole in the fence where our landlord inlaid the mailboxes, into the area between the front house and the coach-house which we live in. from there, they cracked the lock on our bikes and walked out. based on previous break-in attempts, it is most likely the same person or people watching us for new goodies.

I'd ridden over to a bar to hang out with some friends. The bike rack I locked it up to was right next to the bus stop and in front of the bar next to the bar I went into. There were people out smoking on the street, so whoever the thief was had some cojones :/

Bicycle was stolen midday at North Avenue Beach lake front boat house on a busy, sunny day. It was cabled to another bike & ulocked to a metal fence/railing at the boat house. The cable was cut and bicycle taken.

I was in the pub for 2 hours from 8-10, I came out, and the bike and were lock just gone. (There were other bikes still locked to rack).

Bike was locked with a ulock through the front wheel and frame to a metal railed fence overnight in an enclosed front year. The thief cut the bars of the fence to get to the bike. Bike was most likely still locked to itself when stolen.

I locked it at the provided metal U's at the train station. Upon returning later that day, it was not where I had left it. It was gone with the lock

The neighbor left the garage door up between 1pm and 6pm. When I entered the garage at 7pm I noticed that both bikes were missing and the cable lock was left dangling on the pole.

Our neighbor left the garage door up sometime between 1pm and 6pm. When I went to the garage at 7pm, the garage door was down and I saw that our bikes were gone, the lock left dangling to the post.

My bike was stolen from infront of my apartment in Logan Square. The newer u-lock w/flat key was attached by the top tube to the fence and then fence was smashed at the bottom so that the post could be freed and the bike taken. I'm assuming that the white handlebars/toeclips/tires are probably pretty muddy as my front yard is very wet from the rain.

Rode bike to friend's house at 7:30AM. Locked bike to "Speed Hump Ahead" sign on west side of Campbell 30 feet north of Grace. Also locked front tire to frame with separate lock. Was dog sitting for friend. Came back from dog walk at 3:20PM. Bike was still there. Put dog in house and fed. Came down to move bike a little after 5:00PM bike was gone. U-lock was pried apart and laying in parkway. Sign is directly across from mostly vacant industrial area - WGN STudios, Electric Company, Basic Wire and Cable. So, though residential street not a lot of "eyes" on location. Probably was spotted earlier and came back with tools.

Dont know what to say, left for 20 min locked up bike and gone when I came back.
