Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bicycle was locked through front wheel and frame to the bike racks on the west side of Daley Plaza in Chicago, in about as high visibility a site as I can imagine, heavily foot-trafficked and within sightlines of a lobby full of security personnel. Baffling to me that it could be stolen in broad daylight from such a location with no one taking notice, but there were no surveillance cameras on that area (I checked) and the 6.5 hour interval meant I had no idea when it disappeared.

Bike was stolen from deck and was locked to the metal railing. I rode it during the day it was stolen and then locked it up as usual and came back later that evening and it was gone.

I locked my bike to a tree along with my friend's bike outside the Pheonix Inn restaurant on Davis St in Evanston and went in to eat dinner. When I came out the lock was smashed with a brick (which was left at the scene) and just my bike was gone. My friend's bike (a Huffy mountain bike) was still there along with the broken lock.

My bike was stolen in front of my house on Logan Boulevard. Instead of cutting the lock, the fence was sliced through at the top and the bike was lifted over one of the main support posts, U-lock and all. It's got a chrome u-lock on it (orange and black), with a scratched up frame from where the lock bracket is mounted.

Bike was in the back stairwell of the apartment building, and neighbor left the back door open. Someone got into the building and took two bikes. Bike was locked only to itself with a newer u-lock w/flat key.

I was locking up up the bike while a man was on a cell phone watching me do it. I don't know if people walk around with cutters, but my guess is he called someone to come over and cut the lock because he saw me go into the store with my daughter and knew I would be gone for a while. The bike was locked up by a paid parking lot on a street with decent traffic.

While I was inside store, my wife was outside waiting. She came inside to see how much longer and returned immediately. Upon leaving the store, the bike had already been taken.

I came out around 5:30 PM and there was no sign of the bike. My coworker said they thought they saw it there when they left around 3, so 4:30 is a guess. I checked with building security and nobody saw anything. There were no cameras on the rack, unfortunately. Please help me get it back-- I need it to get to work.

Bike locked in front of building residence. There for some time seen on a daily basis as it is locked in front. Left the morning of 2/27/12 and it was gone. Bike was locked securely. Must have used master key or cutters. However no lock remains were on the scene.

I left the bike locked to a bike rack in front of the restaurant Protein Bar for one hour while I had dinner. I came out of the restaurant at 8:30pm and the bike and lock were gone.

I arrived at Casey Moran's around 7:30PM. I stayed for a few hours, ance when I left around 11:00PM my bike was gone. It was locked with a cable that I've used for 4+ years. The bike and cable were completely missing, there were no traces of anything. The cable came with 3 keys, and I still have all 3 in my posession. The bike is a green GT Transeo LTD with a Shimano Nexus Inter-8 hub, with front and rear fenders and front disc brakes (Avid BB5). It looks like a single speed with a large silver hub. The bike should be very distinguishable.

My bike was locked in front of our apartment on a metal fence, as it is every evening with a newer u-lock w/flat key. The fence was sawed through and the bike and lock are gone. I am not certain if I locked it only to the frame, or to the front wheel and this frame.

The bike was stolen from our apartment building sometime last night between 10pm and 9am. The bike was stored in a stairwell bike rack in our apartment building with several other bikes. It and the other bikes stored there are unlocked , but the building requires passcode entry or that you are buzzed in by a resident. The stairwell storage space is not visible from the street.

Garage door was left open for 10 minutes with nobody watching, returned to find the bike missing along with the U lock still on, it was stolen in the alley

suspect entered residence through rear window by removing a/c unit. upon completion of theft of other items, suspect stole bicycle frameset prior to exiting. suspect knew details of my schedule considering the time span which this could have possibly happened.

Bike was stored in garage, someone broke into garage and stole Fuji Absolute. They came back about three days later and stole another bike from the same property so it seems like they were working alone.

My bike was locked to a bike rack in the parking garage at Century City while I was swimming at Bally. I was only there for about 40 minutes, and when I came out, my bike was gone.

** SADDLE STOLEN ONLY ** Last seen Monday March 5 @ 7:30am Green Pashley Princess Sovereign was locked via frame to southernmost bike rack on West side of Logan Square El shelter. At 3:30pm, returned to bike to find saddle missing along with seat post & clamp, removed entirely from bike frame. Questioned the guys who hang out all day next to the El stop; they seemed a little suspect but said they didn't see anyone rip it off. Have been searching Craigslist & eBay for new listings of any used Brooks B66 S saddles in Antique Brown.
