Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was stolen sometime between Nov. 1 - Nov. 12. It was in a secured building under the stairwell. It may have been stolen by a resident or visitor or other outsider. They would have to go through the security code of the garage, and locked door to the stairwell. It was stored with two other bikes which were also stolen (a green KHS commuter bike and purple girls bike). The helmets and u-locks were left behind.

Pretty sure the street sign pole was not secured to the mount and it was lifted up and the bike was removed from it with the lock still on it. There was another bike locked to the same pole when I locked mine up. This morning that bike was still there (it wasn't a bike worth stealing) with the lock on the bike, but the lock was no longer on the pole.

Bike had been locked to the inside of the fence (which is at least 7ft. tall) for a year plus. Heard a strange noise last night around 11:30 from outside or not sure, then today (11/14/11) noticed bike was gone with lock and cable left on the ground.

Thief came into our garage (in the alley behind Oakley Ave.) between 7:30-8:30p on Sunday, Nov. 13.

I had only left the bike locked up in front of a friends place for 2 hours and it was taken. It was the only one taken from the bike rack where there were many bikes locked up.

Accidentally, the newer u-lock with flat key was not through the frame, just the secondary chain lock was. I was going to fill up my flat but the bike store was closed. so I locked it there and walked to a show at the MCA. When I waked back at 10, it was gone (lock cut)

Our beloved tandem was stolen from our garage between November 5th & November 11th (evening). No sign of forced entry or busted lock. The tandem was locked only to itself with a heavy duty bike security chain. I was out of town, not really sure what happened, but very, very sad.

bike was stolen from a secure residential garage in uptown...bike was locked only to itself with a newer u-lock w/flat key...bike has brand new tires, cables, brakes, etc...believe thief(ves) jumped fence to property and gained access to garage...they suck!

This is ridiculous the bike was locked to the bike rack right in front of the glass doors in broad daylight at AMC East! It takes time and effort to cut a cable lock I have had to do it before when I lost my key, which means that several people watched this happen.

Wheels are locked to the frame with pitlocks. Not sure what the thief is going to do about that... Last seen at 6PM night previous, gone in the morning. Kryptonite mini was cut through to steal the bike.

I came home to discover bike missing. Many bikes have disappears from my building as of late. No signes of forced entry. Likely an inside job.

It was the middle of the day and I stopped in china town to grab one of those chinese bubble tea smoothies. I locked my bike outside to a pole on archer which was a pretty busy streed. When I came out the lock was cut and it was gone.

bike was in a locked apartment in the wilson and broadway area. house was broken into and my bike was the only one taken!

The bike was stolen outside the starbucks in the Fienburg Pavilion at Northwestern Hospital. The lock was cut (clean cut) and left at the scene. The other bike locked to the post wasn't taken.

My attic apartment was burglarized on 11/3/11 sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. They came in through the window, but carried everything out through the back door, so there shouldn't be any obvious damage to the bike.

Must have been stolen. I've locked it to the same place for weeks.

I can only imagine that someone had a cable cutter and they cut the cable and ran with the bike. It was surprising because the front of FFC on Clinton is very busy at 5PM. They must have been very fast. Clerks in the front of FFC did not report seeing anything unusual. As a matter of fact, one of them has their bike parked out front as well.

Because our apartment building is locked from the outside, I suspect it was stolen by a friend of one of my neighbors. This is unusual, however, considering all of the residents of the building socialize together regularly, save a few. Moreover, all of the residents and all of their bicycling friends store their bikes in this same hallway. What makes this theft especially strange is that my bicycle was definitely not the NICEST in the hallway - infact it was unridable due to the hub being broken. Although, my bicycle was definitely the NICEST LOOKING; the rest being mostly utility bikes in plain colors with standard parts. I suspect whomever stole it did so in order to sell the parts rather than ride it him/herself.

The bike was left out for the weekend, I usually bring it inside and the next day when I went to go ride my bike to school the bike was gone with the lock.

The image is of a generic giant seek 2 but mine was nearly new so it looked a lot like that. The only difference is that mine also had black fenders on it, no kick-stand. It was locked up outside with a newer u-lock w/flat key. when I went in to work for a couple hours. As of 1:30 it was there because I went out to lunch then. When I came back at 2:30 it was gone. Thieves had dismantled the street sign and stolen it lock and all.
