Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked my bike on the rails at north avenue beach just outside bike and roll. there were at least 100 other bikes along the same railing. I went jet skiing, came back in 2 hours, and my bike was gone. my bike was also locked with my friends bike. both bikes and the lock were gone. her bike is also a road bike. it is a white blue and red trek.

Left the bike out overnight, check on it at about 10/11 am the next morning, lock was cut and left behind, no trace of the bike.

My car was parked on North Ave. I had my bike in the back seat. At some point between 2-10am, my car was broken into and the bike was stolen.

Bicycle was U-locked to a street sign. The sign post was found unbolted after the incident.

Bike was left in driveway at 8:15 AM, returned 45 minutes later and it was gone.

Bike was locked to the fence outside the Jesse Spaulding School. Had a Kryptonite lock cut. Looked like the lock was cut with some sort of power tool because the cut was very clean, and not done with a hack saw. Bike was stolen during pitchfork, I heard there was a truck going around stealing bikes but nothing was done to stop the truck. There could be many more similar reports. Lots of loitering individuals in the neighborhood as well.

I parked it on a side street across from the Den Theatre. It was the only bike locked to the sign (i was so excited to find bike parking...but in hindsight I would have been better off locking it up with other bikes...). Came out of the show at 2 and there was no sign of it. :(

I was with my friend Mark. We rode our bikes to see Harry Potter 4:15 p.m. show. Our bikes were locked together with front wheel and frame to a steel fence directly in front of steps going up to theatre doors. When the movie was finished, we came outside and discovered that our cable combo lock was cut, my bike was stolen, while my friend's bike was still there against the steel fence.

Went into CVS for a Minute Clinic appointment. Locked bike next to parking meter box, to a bike rack steel U pole bolted to ground. Wrapped lock through front and rear wheels and frame to pole. Removed all accessories except for mounts described above. Appointment lasted for about an hour and a half. After appointment was over, came to discover bike was gone and no evidence of lock was found. Asked CVS and Jewel Osco (directly across from the CVS on Southport) if they have cameras pointing out to the area I parked my bike and they said they do not have cameras pointing in that direction.

Stolen from street sign between 9:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. Thursday evening. Street sign physically removed from the ground to take bicycle. Absolutely devastated. Please please help!

Bike was stolen directly out of my garage between 3pm-4pm on July 14. Suspect then rode it over to On The Route Bikes on Lincoln Ave. to fill up tires and the bike was quickly recognized since they work on it. Suspect knew he was in trouble and fled on the bike. OTR mentioned suspect has been in before to buy small stuff so they have no record. It is believed suspect is in Lakeview area.

I locked the bike up in front of my dance studio at 6:00p, taught class for an hour, left around 7:35p and my bike was gone. Cable lock, someone must have clipped it. Tons of other bikes locked up at various places on the street, all with U locks.

Ran into the store to grab a quick drink came out a couple mins later only to notice the bike was missing.

Parked at rack at side of building at 8:30AM, locked both wheels and frame to rack with cable lock. Returned to rack at 6 pm, found bike missing with lock left behind, cable severed near the lock. Filed police report with university police.

The bike was U-locked securely to a city sign last night when I walked past it around midnight when I left to go downtown today around noon, the bike was gone, my friend's bike was on the ground lock still on it and I noticed the bolt, nut and washer from the bottom of the sign were also lying on the ground. I was up past 2am and could tell people were still walking around and since it is so close to a busy street like Broadway, it had to have happened much later in the night.

The bike was in the middle of my back yard. We have security lights, and dogs (who were probably inside the house at the time). The thief removed the clip on the gate, unlatched it, stole the bike and closed and re-latched the gate. The last time I saw it was Sunday evening (7/10) and I noticed it missing on 7/13 at 7 am. It may have been metal scrappers or kids.

No idea how it happened.

somebody replaced a screw on the latch plate of the security gate so it would not latch properly. then took two bikes mid morning yesterday.

Light green, 1970s, Motobecane Nomade, was stolen from in front of 1805 North Milwaukee Avenue. It was leaning against a fence unlocked when it was taken around 7pm on Tuesday July 12, 2011. The bike is fixed gear, has a black, semi-straight head tube with tan tape on the grips.

Attached photo is not the actual bike. Only make, model & color. Locked bike up before work to my usual bike rack around 6:30am. Left work around 7pm and the bike & lock were gone. I am assuming that the cable lock was cut and the thief took off with both the bike & lock.
