Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen between 5 and 10:45PM outside the Rockwell brown line and a storefront next to newspaper boxes. Lock was missing along with the bike. It had been locked up next to a little kid's bike.

Bikes stolen while I was out of town from my garage. Not sure about exact date because I was gone for most of September.

My bike was locked through the front wheel and frame to the top tube of my roommate's bike's frame with a newer u-lock/w flat key. Her bike was U-locked to a street sign, but only through her front wheel. The thief was able to remove her front wheel and lift away her bike and mine attached to it.

My bike was locked up using a u-lock and cable. While my u-lock wasn't found at the scene, I saw another u-lock that was left. It was fully locked, but cut. Neither my cable or u-lock was found, so I'm supposed they cut the u-lock and made off with the cable - disposing of the u-lock.

The bike was double U-locked to my girlfriends bike that was also stolen. They were against the back of the house in a fenced in yard.

Parked my bike when I arrived at work about 9am Monday morning Oct. 11. Bike was still there when I left work and took bus to go to a movie downtown at 5pm Monday. Arrived back at my office Tuesday just before 2pm and the bike was gone. I had locked it with a krypyonite Evolution lock (orange cover) (purchased in 2006) through the front wheel and frame to sturdy bike rack. Also had a cable chain through back wheel. I have heard that thieves in the area use grinders to weaken the locks and then can break them by kicking. Don't know what happened in this case. No signs of grinding near the bike rack. No picture sorry...Didn't think of this.

The bike was stolen from the side passageway next to my apartment. The passageway is not very visible from the sidwalk, however there had been a few contracters walking through the area over the past few days while conducting repairs on the building. The bike was attached to a secure metal pole using a newer U-Lock w/Flat Key. A few days after locking up the bike, I noticed that the U-Lock was still attached, intact, to the pole, but the bike was missing.

I rode to UIC on a bike that I barely had for a week. I locked it up in fron of Student Center East, which is located on Halsted and Polk. I headed inside the building and I was only gone for about half an hour. When I returned to my bike, it was gone. I filed a report with UIC Campus Police. When the police officer and I investigated the scene, we found out that the theif rode a cheap mountain bike next to mine and took my bike. The thief had to be following me because I locked my bike up in a place where you can't really see it riding down halsted.

Locked my bike up to the southern-most racks in front of the CTA Blueline at Milwaukee and Western. Bike was locked with a robust cable and keypad lock. Left for the Loop to go to school at about 10am. Got back at 4pm, and bike was gone, lock laying severed on the ground. Nothing special, just disappointment.

My bike was parked right out in front of the school doors. It had been there aproximately 1/2 hour.

I locked it to the bike rack in front of the class room building at 412 S. Peoria St. I was in the building from 5:30 to 9 pm, and when I came out, the bike was simply gone. The lock and everything were taken, there were no signs of a broken lock.

I think the u-lock was probably jimmied open and the bike was taken from the front of the house sometime between Friday Oct 8th and the morning of Saturday Oct 9th

Someone took the porch apart in order to steal my bike. Bike was brand new only used a few times. Bike was locked through the frame only with an older U-lock wRound Key. Bike also had broken chain... whoever took it had a hard time getting away lol.

Stolen by having temporary lock clipped during the 30 minutes we stopped to eat breakfast. Taken in broad daylight on busy street.

Thief had cable cutters, not afraid of crowds. Bike was locked with 2 combination lock cable locks to crowded zoo bike rack on busy sunny day at Zoo, much foot and vehicle traffic, stolen between about 12 noon to 4 pm; another cyclist's bike was in place of mine when we came out at 5; he said he arrived just after 4 and my bike was not on the rack. Also, my husband's bike (which was attached to a child's bike trailer) had it's lock cut off but the bike and trailer were left and the thief may have fled at that point.

MY BIKE IS KEPT AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR BACK STAIRWELL THAT LEADS TO OUR ALLEY AND DRIVEWAY. YESTERDAY, OCTOBER 9, WE NOTICED IT WAS NO LONGER THERE. THERE ARE ONLY THREE UNITS IN OUR BUILDING AND OUR NEIGHBORS ARE TRUSTWORTHY. SOMEONE EITHER BROKE IN AND TOOK IT OR THE DOOR WAS LEFT OPENED AND SOMEONE TOOK IT THEN.

Locked my bike while cheering for the Chicago Marathon, less than a block away.

Locked to a sign on Columbus Drive at the entrance of the Green City Market in Lincoln Park. Very many people in the area. Market was packed. Lots of bikes parked in the area.

Back porch light was on when I arrived home, indicating that it was activated no more than 5 minutes before I got there. Neighbor heard something but just thought it was me coming/leaving home. No other signs of the burglar. The chain was cut with a bolt cutter and the chain and padlock where left on the ground. This thief was prepared.

I was riding my bike home at night. I fell off my bike and hit my head. I think I had a concussion because I don't remember locking it up or bringing it home. The next day I could not find it anywhere.
