Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bicycle was locked to a solid metal beam behind the back entrance to my apartment (in an alleyway) when I left for work at 7am, but was gone (along with the lock) when I returned that evening at 7pm. The lock was fed through both the wheel and frame of the bike, then around the beam. The beam was attached to solid flat surfaces on both the top and bottom indicating that the lock could not have been slipped off anywhere. The lock was a cable type with integrated key lock. The bike was in this location for only 3 days.

I last saw the bike at about 10pm on 7/25/11, locked to the parking sign with an On-Guard Bulldog combination U-lock, before going to bed. I had locked it to this sign a few times for as long as about 3 hours during the day with no problems. This was the first time (and last time) I had locked it anywhere overnight. Please help. Thank you.

Bike was locked along with a 3 wheel handcycle. stolen from basement garage.

Similar handcycle as the picture shown above, but black and fork slightly different. Missing back and seat cushion. I have the spinergy wheels shown. Handcycle was locked in a basement garage.

My bike was locked to the iron fence in front of my house. I last saw it at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 25. When I left for work at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, the bike was gone. The lock was cut clean through.

My very distinctive (and heavy!) bicycle was stolen from in front of my place of work on July 15 between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. The pole with the street sign that my bike had been U-locked to had been compromised when I discovered the theft.

Was inside bar with bike locked up. It happened sometime between 8pm and 11pm. Came back three hours later and bike was gone. Cable was cut through and left at the scene. Lots of people out, I'm surprised nobody saw anything.

Bike was taken 6/29-7/1/2011. Found stolen around 6:00pm 7/1/2011. Cable was cut to take the bike, but the front wheel was left (on a U-lock). Attached image is a stock image -- the Cannondale logo is more pink than orange on the actual bike

Stolen with another bike, also unlocked, under a porch, out of view from the street or alley. We left them there for a few hours to run an errand and when we came back the bikes were gone. Some kids had been seen messing around in the alleyway, so maybe they were stolen by a local.

Locked it securely overnight in front of a shoe repair shop in front of my building. The next night it wasn't there.

I came into my apartment last Saturday(the 16th) night at 2am and put my bike foolishly outside my door and then accidentally fell asleep. I woke up to a start at 8am Sunday and checked and the bike was gone. I have since checked the video surveillance system of the apartment and filed a police report. I HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE AND STILLS OF THE THIEF LEAVING THE BUILDING WITH MY BIKE!!! I have contacted bike shops around my neighborhood and checked the Swap-O-Rama. So far to no avail.. Please help.

The bike was locked to a street sign on the corner. Upon leaving the event we realized there was no street light at the corner and the bicycle was gone. We returned in the morning because it seemed unlikely that a u-lock was cut through and the rear wheel was chain locked to the bike. Upon inspection, we found that four street signs in the area had had the bottom bolt removed and the posts could be lifted out of the holder.

I had left bike to be at lunch at a colleague's apartment. I was gone for about 3 1/2 hours. The bike was secure to a bike rack with a Kryptonite U-Lock. I came back to get the bike at about 5.30 pm and didn't find the bike at the location I had locked it. There were other bikes secure to the same bike rack but mine was gone.

Locked up my bike in front of Paulina Meat Market to the bike rack at around 10 pm. Walked out of my friends apt at Midnight to find my bike and lock gone. Locked up with a Giant 3.5' Surelock Force 2 chain lock and cables running through the wheels. No sign that it was ever there.

Locked my bike at the bike racks on the west side of Treasure Island on Wells. Lock was a 1/2" - 5/8" coated cable with the lock included in the cable. Bike was locked through the frame and rear wheel to the rack. After only 15 to 20 minutes, I returned to nothing. No bike, no lock.

Bike and helmet were locked to bike rack outside of the Empty Bottle with a U-lock. Upon leaving the Empty Bottle, the helmet was still locked to the rack, but the bike was gone.
